October is Bleeding Disorder Awareness Month, and it is also the month when I was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune blood disorder, Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP), just six days shy of my 17th birthday. I have relapsed twice since then and also acquired a second autoimmune blood disorder.
 
I would not be alive without the remarkable kindness and generosity of plasma donors. I am so deeply grateful to anyone who has ever donated plasma or blood so that people like myself can live.

Each relapse of my disease requires hundreds of bags of donor plasma administered over the course of several months of daily (and eventually weekly) plasmapheresis treatments. A scarcity of donor plasma has been the one thing I have NEVER had to worry about while in the ICU. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
 
I made Blood Bag to honor those who have blood disorders, to celebrate the generosity of blood and plasma donors, and to help fund an organization dedicated to research, public policy initiatives, and patient education initiatives for rare disorders like mine.
 
(And in case you wondered, fresh frozen plasma is actually yellow, so I went for a more aesthetically pleasing blood theme instead!)

As the Halloween Countdown Calendars begin arriving over the next week, I have a favor to ask of you! 🧡

I am hoping to minimize spoilers for those who want to follow along with the official countdown open dates.

If you could kindly use a black and white pic as your first slide or a “Spoilers Ahead” image before posting mani pics on IG (or nesting photos if you’re sharing on FB), I would greatly appreciate it!

I know that most of you already do this when it comes to mystery polishes, but I wanted to formally ask for those who are new to the indie nail world and are not yet familiar with mystery polish etiquette.

When the official open dates begin, I’ll be posting pics of each polish day-by-day in the evening, starting with Day 1 on 10/22. From the evening of the official open date for each shade and beyond, these will no longer be mysteries and you can feel free to share them without cover pics or without nesting them.

Days 4 and 7 are my personal favorites. (Day 4 truly has to be seen on the nail to be fully appreciated! How it looks in the bottle just doesn’t do it justice! It’s mind-bogglingly pretty!)
