As 2023 is only a day away, we would like to recap our impact and accomplishments this year. Through 12 months of hard and passionate work, our 250 volunteers and 13 directors have managed to make an impact on the DTES community with the distribution of meals and necessities.
To our high-school student volunteers, sponsors and collaborators: everything could not have been possible without your support. Through the most inclement weather and plethora of various distribution formats, you have adapted yet stayed true to your values of community service in giving back to our community. Your work is not only valued by government officials, but extremely welcome by the DTES community and its residents.
Wishing to extend our impact beyond our distributions, PH has conducted various interviews and investigations in hopes to advocate for the DTES community while combating the prevalent stigma surrounding homelessness.

On December 11th, we had our last distribution of the year. Along with PokeyOkey’s generous contribution of 40 rice bowls, Supper Suppermoment’s 40 ham and cheese sandwiches as well as St Germain’s 4 boxes of pastries, PH distributed 200 hot dogs, snacks and winter garments.

We are immensely grateful for our longtime collaborator, Youzang, for showing his support and providing media coverage.

We thank our volunteers, sponsors and collaborators for a productive and impactful 2022 and look forward to our exciting projects in the new year.

As we approach the end of 2022, we would like to thank our sponsors for this year. We are very grateful to be sponsored by Lotus Light Charity Society, Pokey Okey, and St Germain Bakery and look forward to our next projects in 2023.
Our Sponsors:

Lotus Light Charity Society is a registered Canadian charity which aims to build a better tomorrow by hosting charity drives and large-scale distribution. Since 2021, PH and LLCS have collaborated on dozens of events, each time impacting hundreds of underserved individuals in the DTES.

Pokey Okey is a local Poke shop offering culinary delights at three locations throughout the Metro Vancouver area. Throughout the years, Pokey Okey has donated hundreds of meals towards Project Hastings’ monthly distributions.

St. Germain Bakery is a local Canadian establishment which offers delicious pastries and other baked goods in numerous locations throughout Canada. Since 2021, St Germain Bakery has contributed over 2400 pastries and buns to Project Hastings’ initiatives.

In collaboration with the local community, and in the efforts of increasing youth engagement in the fight for awareness of the food insecurity and homelessness crisis, Project Hastings and the Killarney Youth Council will be working together to launch a collaborative canned food drive, and subsequent distribution project launch.

From now until January the 14th, canned food and non-perishable food donations will be accepted at the Killarney Community Centre’s Front Desk, where boxes will be placed for collection (6260 Killarney St).

Feel free to drop by, donate, and say hi! All proceeds will be going towards our collective mission: to fight for the alleviation of food disparity in our community through projects designed for our community.

We thank you for your support.

We trialed a hot food distribution in addition to our standard sandwich distribution! This generated great feedback from the community and we look forward to expanding this method of distribution to our future events.
