Zainab Memorial School
ZMS is a co-ed with girls being the majority. Khuraira's vision is to see Christian and Muslim kids get educated regardless of their religious beliefs.
My immortal priceless jewel: Aunt Zainab
I sit here, my mind clutched on that beauteous terrific soul who took on flesh to walk the tapestry of humanity: Aunt Zainab. Like a diamond, your memory dazzles on the slate of time with the grandeur of the one who came, saw and conquered. I remember your compassionate voice, fanning the ebbing coals of my great dreams to flames. I remember your love for me, like a chilled cup of cold water that quenches a thirst in the desert. I remember sweet and beautiful memories made with you as a child growing up under your tender care.
You gave me a lot more than an orphan could ask for. You stood for me. You fought for me. You believed I could become anything I thought I could become. You motivated me. You lived out generosity and charity. What a gift you were!
You used to say: “Khurairatu or Talle” (my nickname), “caring for other people’s children is a noble thing to do because all must be cared for in order to have a happy and prosperous community.” You didn’t just say. It was your life. You were a spitting image of compassion. You cared for people, whoever they were.
Founding Zainab Memorial School, a co-educational school established to provide education to the less privileged kids in my hometown of Jebbu-Bassa, Plateau State, is one of my ways of immortalizing you. I know that if you were alive, what we do at Zainab Memorial would have been your daily chore. When you were still alive, every dime I sent to you was largely spent on kids in the neighbourhood who had one educational need or the other. You were not selfish at all.
One can say that you were generous to a fault. You saw humanity as your pet project. A project for which you would spend and be spent for. You held back nothing for yourself. You thought of people first and gave whatever you could, to be of assistance to them.
Almost a decade on since you left this world and I still remember you as though I just saw you again this morning. Your memory lingers with immeasurable joy. You are my angel and destiny helper, Aunt Zainab. You were not educated but you knew the importance of education. You permitted me to make tough choices at a time a person in my condition was not supposed to have a say about her own life.
I imagine Jebbu-Bassa and the distance it is to where I am today in the United States of America: this is simply an act of God! Thanks to God and Aunt Zainab. If you two had not been there when it mattered the most, I would not have been here. The teeming Gaine dynasty would not be here without you. What you were scorned and almost ostracized for, has turned around to be the most important succour of the Gaine family.
I believe you look down from Paradise and smile at what has become of your young, bold and strong Talle. There are stories we need to talk about. There are journeys I have taken that I would have loved to talk to you about. I believe, that in the sweet by and by, I will see you again, to take fura da nono, and have the fondest moments of our lives. I promise you, that if in the afterlife, you allow me to sell fura da nono, I will not give it to the monkey I gave it to decades ago, to return home as though I made a good sale in a bad weather.
You know, Rabi and I are still here. Sometimes, we call each other, a million miles apart, to just laugh as we remember foolish things we did innocently. We remember you often: your tender care, your inspiring talks, and your motivation when the chips were down. You were that gust of wind that propelled our plane to fly.
I thought of you and I thought I could write to you, to remind you that dreams do come true. Through the tough and difficult moments of life, I have pulled through stronger and more committed to living the best life possible, thanks to Allah. I remember the investments you have made. I remember the sacrifices. I try each day, to be of help to others as you would have done, if you were here.
The memory of you, my immortal priceless jewel, is still fresh. The moments we have shared are archived in a golden treasure can, reminding me that because I had you, I am here, challenging me that because others have me, they should also see their dreams come true.
So long, my sweet Aunt Zainab.
Your Talle,
Khuraira Musa

Please my Facebook family join me thank my friend and client T.H. Irwin for generously donating Books, CDs, Pencils, colored pencils, sharpeners, erasers, laptops, legos and school bags to Zainab Memorial School. She and her daughter, Ally Waldman had been the supporters of the school from inception. My friend, I truly appreciate you and everything you do to help me educate this children. Love you to the moon and back♥️♥️🙏🏽🙏🏽. May God almighty bless you and yours always.
I want to take this opportunity on behalf of Zainab Memorial School to thank Ally Waldmanand team for raising $96.00 to buy school supplies for the kids in the school. Ally has been supporting the school since her 13th year birthday, now all grown and heading to college in the fall.
Ally with her friends at Tenafly high school Penpal Education Club did the following to raise the funds.
“The fundraiser was a simple fundraiser that I thought would appeal to my school, a bake sale. After school everyone loves to have a snack so why not grab one from the THS Pen Pals club table. We had pizza, cookies, brownies, water, basically anything you could want for a snack. Teacher and student were all coming after school to grab something to eat from our table. Although things had to be pretty cheap we made a good amount of money and had a lot of people buy from us. Overall, it was a success and brought buzz to the club, says Ally.”
Again Ally thank you for your beautiful heart. Love you baby girl😘😘😘.

Thank you again and God bless you all.
The kids holding the awards are those that scored the most in all their subjects and from various classes.
