AFTRA 2024: MINISTER OF STATE FOR EDUCATION LED NIGERIAN DELEGATION TO THE 11 CONFERENCE AND 13TH ROUNDTABLE AFRICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHING REGULATORY AUTHORITIES IN ZAMBIA.
Honourable Minister of State for Education, Rt. Hon. Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu, led the Nigerian delegation to the 11th Conference and 13th Roundtable of the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities holding in Lusaka, Zambia. The event has 20 Ministers of Education from Africa and other continents.
In his speech the HMSE extensively informed the world of the feats achieved by the President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration in the education sector and particularly on the DOTS. He elaborated on the restoration of professionalism in the teaching profession and all that are being done to enhance the well-being of teachers in Nigeria.

JAMB CENTRE YAURI: CBT GADGETS PROCURED AHEAD OF THE NEXT UTME.
The Honourable Minister for Education for State, Rt. Hon. Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu (Dan Madamin Yauri) facilitates the delivery of yet another set of consignments comprised of Computer Based Test (CBT) gadgets ahead of the potential maiden exercise at the centre since its completion. The goods are said to be funded from the Year 2023 appropriation act inserted during his NASS days.

Establish Safe School Response Center — FG tells state governments
The Federal Government has urged state governors to set up Safe School Response Coordination Centres to forestall attacks and kidnappings in schools.
The Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sununu, made this appeal while inspecting facilities at the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre located at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, headquarters on Friday in Abuja.
DAILY POST reports that the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre was established by the Federal Government in February 2023 to enhance the security of schools and host communities.
The centre also coordinates security agencies and other critical stakeholders by receiving and referring complaints as well as maintaining emergency hotlines.
The lead agency of the project is NSCDC, which works in collaboration with other sister agencies.
While inspecting the facilities, Sununu explained that education is critical to the development of the country; hence, an attack on the system would have a ripple effect on the nation.
Sununu called on state governors to take proactive steps to safeguard schools in their domain.
He said the inspection became imperative owing to the recent kidnapping of students and teachers in Sokoto and Kaduna States.
“Education is the key ingredient for individuals, communities and international organisations for rapid development.
“Nigeria is leading globally in areas of out-of-school children in spite of all investments in education; therefore, this attack is unacceptable.
“The abduction of schoolchildren by bandits is an attack on education that should not be condoned.
“We implore all the state governments in Nigeria to see how they can quickly, in the next few weeks, establish their own centre that will be directly connected to this centre,” he said.

One of the three (3) PHCs under construction in Gunbi ward, Yauri local government area, the project was initiated by the Honorable Minister of State for Education when he was a Member House of Representatives of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The project is 90 percent completed. The remaining landscaping is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

WORKSHOP: MINISTRY OF EDUCATION INTENSIFIES EFFORTS TOWARDS REJIGGING THE EDUCATION SECTOR.
Honourable Ministers of Education, Professor Mamman Tahir and Rt. Hon. Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu jointly led the unveiling of the Nigeria Road map for education sector for a period of 4 years, starting 2024-2027. The project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda for educational programs of Mr President, His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
The ongoing program at the Continental Hotel (Sharaton Hotel), Abuja is sequential to the formation of a committee saddled with the responsibility of coming up with logical and technical plans for Nigerian Education reform project.

Emir of Zazzau Hosts Special Prayer with Minister of State for Education

The Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli CFR, hosted a special prayer session at the Emir palace to commemorate his three-year reign on the throne. During this event, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu was in attendance. The occasion also marked the coronation ceremony of three distinguished individuals from the Zazzau Emirate, one of whom was Alhaji ADAMU Idris, the newly appointed Sa’in Zazzau and former Baraden Zazzau.
The purpose of the gathering was to offer national prayers. May almighty Allah accept these prayers, bless the reign of the Emir, and bestow wisdom upon the newly crowned traditional title holders. It was a significant event that celebrated both the Emir's tenure and the recognition of accomplished individuals in the Zazzau Emirate.

Recall that, during the August visit, the Honorable Minister Dr YTS received a congratulatory letter from the management and was also presented with an appointment letter of Ambassador-at-large of the University.
