The Community School of Davidson (CSD) offers to the community for a student theatre productions in hopes of providing an opportunity for more youth to experience theatre. CSD opens auditions to area students to allow the arts to be alive and attainable for all.

Community School of Davidson announces auditions for an all high school production of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER Wednesday, August 25 from 4-6pm and Thursday, August 26 from 6-8pm at Community School of Davidson 404 Griffith Street. ALL High School and Gap Year students are eligible and invited to audition.
Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script as well as theatre games and a short movement excercise. NO PREPARATION NECESSARY, but if you have a monologue prepared, we’d be happy to see, time allowing. The casting will be approached from a gender neutral perspective, so many opportunities abound. Auditioners should plan to arrive at the start of the audition, and need only attend one session. Please dress comfortably in clothes you can move in. Please bring your resume or list of theatre experience and a list of conflicts for the late August - mid October time frame.
The production will be directed by Melissa Ohlman-Roberge, with musical support by Don & Jackie Flewell, and will run October 7-10 at either CSD ArtSpace or a to-be-determined outdoor venue. Rehearsals will start on August 30. Video submissions are allowed, but must be received by Thursday, August 26 at 10pm. We’re thrilled to announce our “Sew For The Show: Mask Design Challenge” – a four-week, Broadway-themed face mask making competition officially launching NEXT WEEK (July 13)!
Each Monday throughout the challenge, we will announce which Broadway show on our upcoming season will inspire that week’s mask theme. Participants will have until end of day the following Sunday to design, create and submit a photo of their show-themed mask.
All ages are welcome to enter, and participation is free. Participants 12 years of age and under will be entered into the Sew for the Show: Young Designers Mask Challenge.
Each week’s winner from both age brackets will receive (2) complimentary tickets to opening night of the featured Broadway show. The grand prize winner will receive opening night tickets to ALL THREE featured shows!

Mooresville Community Children’s Theatre and the Community School of Davidson announce auditions for summer shows: SHREK, the Musical and Sweeny Todd Auditions will be held Thursday, February 20 beginning at 7:30 and Friday, February 21 beginning at 4:30 at MCCT Playhouse, 228 N Main St, Mooresville, NC.
Those wishing to audition for should prepare a short segment of a song (musical theatre preferred). Please bring music in the proper key, an accompanist will be provided. A short monologue is welcomed but not required. Please dress comfortably as there will be a dance audition. Also bring your resume or list of theatre experience and a list of conflicts for late-April to July time frame. You need only attend one audition.
ALL Middle, High School and college students are eligible and welcomed to audition.
Video submissions are welcomed and should be received by April 21. (Please note that Sweeny Todd will be a mixed age cast and the adult roles will be precast; younger roles and ensemble will be cast from these auditions. Shrek will be a youth production and will be cast from these audition days.

Sneak peak!
CSD and Mooresville Community Children’s Theatre have forged a unique collaboration that will bring the hit musical FOOTLOOSE, based on the iconic movie of the same name, to venues in both Davidson and Mooresville. The production will run at CSD’s ArtSpace Theater November 13-16. Over 30 students from as far south as Charlotte and as far north as Statesville have been hard at work since mid-September. Performances will feature a live band led by John Smith. The production contains mild language and is appropriate for grades 6+.

They kindly moved the show for the rescheduled football game (to help with conflicts for students and families) so let’s show the actors some CSD love by filling the seats!
