According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), about 30 percent of U.S. solid waste (i.e., the waste that is normally handled through residential and commercial garbage-collection systems) is recycled. The rest goes to landfill. When people don’t rinse out their recyclables before putting them in the bin they likely won’t get recycled or can contaminate the entire load. This means that whole load is now going to landfill. Please recycle and please rinse out your recyclables, let’s see if we can’t lower the amount of waste we produce.
