Hi everyone,

As you may know, Lent is a special season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving that prepares us for Easter. It's also a time to listen to what Jesus wants to tell us through the Scriptures and through others.

That's why we want to share with you Pope Francis' message for Lent 2023, which he released on Feb. 17. In his message, he uses the story of Jesus' Transfiguration as a launching point to address both the journey of Lent.

The pope invites us to "go up" with Jesus to the mountain of prayer, where we can contemplate his glory and hear his voice. He also urges us to "come down" with Jesus to the valley of service, where we can encounter our brothers and sisters in need and share with them the joy of the Gospel.

He concludes his message by reminding us that Lent is a time for renewing our faith, hope and love. He says that these three virtues are like "three flames" that burn brightly in our hearts when we follow Jesus. He also offers some practical suggestions on how we can practice these virtues during Lent.
