Love bombing is often romanticized in TV and movies. The typical story involves an uninterested character who is being pursued by an eager suitor. There are many ways a person can exhibit signs of love bombing, learn some of the common signs: https://bit.ly/3kecEy5
Best pictures i've seen of the female athletes at Villa Romana del Casale in Sicily, 3rd to 4th century CE. "Of the ten women depicted in the mosaic, nine wear what look like two-piece bathing suits. The girls in the mosaic are engaged in sports; the “bikinis” are clearly intended as sportswear, not swimwear. The girls in ancient Roman villa are engaged in a number of activities, such as long jumping with weights in their hands, throwing discus, running, and playing a form of handball." “It’s often a problem with some self-defense classes that they can make people more afraid,” Hollander says. “Some of them are so fear-based and focused on how the world is a dangerous place, and you have to be really scared. That’s not what self-defense should be about. It’s about making your world bigger, not smaller.”
Another common problem is that self-defense lessons can feel like victim-blaming women for not doing more to keep themselves safe. Hollander says that potential participants can usually mitigate this by researching classes to avoid fear-based classes that emphasize controlling women’s behavior — such as how they dress — as a form of self-defense.”

Your autonomic nervous system is built around the balance of two opposing actions. The sympathetic nervous system is associated with the ‘fight or flight’ response and the parasympathetic is associated with relaxation, digestion, and regeneration. These two parts of your nervous system are meant to work in rhythmic alternation, seamlessly moving between alertness and restfulness. Unfortunately, chronic stress and unresolved trauma interfere with this balance.
Once a perceived threat has passed, your hormone levels return to normal. Your adrenaline and cortisol levels drop, your heart rate and blood pressure return to baseline levels. But when you are constantly stressed, your fight-or-flight reaction stays turned on. This long-term activation of the stress response system and the overexposure to cortisol can lead to health issues like anxiety, depression, digestive problems, weight gain, etc. This is why it's so important to learn to cope with and manage stress.
Health problems that are associated with chronic stress include high blood pressure, blood sugar imbalances, addictions to alcohol, ni****ne, caffeine and other drugs, food cravings and emotional eating, and suppressed immunity.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to learn more about how to manage chronic stress?

February is Black History Month, and we're celebrating Rachel Wolfe Goldsmith’s "We Rise" mural! 🎨
This 12’ x 16’ mural was created in November 2021 in response to the We Rise Committee’s goals of inspiring beauty, hope, change, unity and integrity. The committee was formed to provide leadership opportunities for Black youth in Eugene to directly impact their City’s downtown cultural landscape and the current City narrative around Black youth culture.
You can see the finished mural on 10th Ave between Olive and Charnelton in Downtown Eugene, directly across from the Eugene Public Library 🗺️
