I’m honored to receive the nomination from the Pine Plains Democratic caucus yesterday . Thanks for your support and confidence in me for another 4 years.
I am also seeking to renew my nomination from the Pine Plains Republicans when they meet for their caucus in July.
Here’s to another 4 years
“Stick with Zick”
Please remember to go out and vote tonight at the firehouse from 6-9 pm. There is a referendum on a new pumper truck and I support this purchase and believe it is a needed improvement for the town and will allow us to provide mutual aid to surrounding towns.
Calling all kids! If you are caught wearing a helmet while riding your bike, the police will issue you a citation for free ice cream at Stewart’s!
The official elections results are finally available, and I’m happy to be joining all the newly elected candidates to represent Pine Plains for the next 4 years! I will strive to be open-minded and I am excited to work with everyone, regardless of party affiliation, to get some real work done that will benefit our great little town.
Thank you all!

Matt’s Official Statement for Pine Plains Town Board Election 2017:
Many people have been asking me for my “official statement” as a candidate for Town Board. My official statement is… I have no official statement!
I’m not here to push my own agenda. I want to listen to the people of the town and hear what they think the agenda should be. I believe public service is about exactly that – “service”. I want to serve our community, and the best way I know to do that is to listen and try to be a representative of the residents of Pine Plains.
Policy and change in government works slowly, and I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep because then I just become another politician who doesn’t follow through. I would like to see our town to be able to grow and expand without losing our small-town appeal. Being able to watch my daughter and her friends grow up in an environment that accepts different views and opinions without consequence of exclusion or ridicule. A town that comes together to celebrate our successes and mourn our failures. I believe we have already moved in that direction, but we can always improve. I do not believe that any individual elected official or even the Town Board as a group can alone truly improve or damage our sense of community. We all need to work together – our local government, business owners, and residents – to affect any real change. I hope to help facilitate those conversations and encourage cooperation.
If you have a question about where I stand on a certain issue, please ask. Contact me on social media, by phone or email, or even better – come knock on my door! If you see me out in town pushing my daughter in the stroller, please stop me and ask me any questions you have, or let me know what issues are important to you.
I am trying to knock on every door in the town of Pine Plains to introduce myself face-to-face, meet new people, and listen to the opinions and concerns of our residents. I will continue to knock on doors until the Nov 7th election day! I’ve already met many of you and I’ve learned that although we are people of all ages, religions, ethnicities, and political viewpoints, many of us have common goals for our town. We want a thriving town center with successful businesses and affordable residences, we hope that vacant storefronts and homes will be revived and renovated, and we all want to continue to have a safe and strong school system and community where our children can grow, play, and learn.
Thank you for taking the time to read this far. I would be honored to have your support! We cannot create and maintain a great community unless we learn to accept change and different views. I’m not running to see what changes are going happen in the next 4 years, but what is going to be here for my daughter and her generation in the next 20 years!
A little bit about me: I am a husband, father, and homeowner in the Town of Pine Plains. My wife and I have been working hard to renovate a 100+ year old home in the village where we plan to live for many years to come. I own and operate a small business based in Pine Plains and I employ several other residents part time. I am an active member of the Pine Plains Lions Club where I spear headed the Golf Outing Fundraiser which has been successfully raising scholarship money that we give out each year to 6 deserving students from Stissing Mountain HS. I am an active member of FOSL (Friends of Stissing Landmarks where we are helping to maintain, map and clear trails in and around Stissing Mountain. And, most recently I’ve been transitioning to becoming a stay-at-home father 4 days per week!
Remember – the last day to register to vote is Oct 13th! That is this coming FRIDAY! You can register online using the electonic DMV system, you can print voter registration forms from home from the Dutchess Co. Board of Elections, or you can pick up physical forms from the Post Office or directly from me! Please, please, please register to vote and commit to showing up to the polls on Election Day!

Hello everyone! I'm an independent candidate with support from the Republican party running for a position on the Pine Plains Town Board in the 2017 election.
For those of you who don't know me. I've lived in town for about 6 years but I've had family in the area all my life and pretty much grown up here. I'm interested in serving on the town board because I care about what happens to our little dot on the map. My family and I are young and we plan to be here for years to come. It's important to me that the town thrives and grows so it continues to be a wonderful place for my family and I, and others, to live, work, and play.
I don't have lofty political goals, what you see is what you get with me. I really just want to see more young people involved in community service and helping to move our town forward as a place that will attract more families, young and old, to plant roots here and stay for years. I figured the best place to start is by getting involved myself and I hope that you all will support me. Thank you.
