With a large portion of the state under a Freeze watch for tonight here is some information on what to do with your Rhubarb if it does freeze tonight.

REASON FOR CAUTION
Rhubarb contains oxalate, which have been reported to cause poisoning when large quantities of raw or cooked leaves are ingested. During World War I rhubarb leaves were recommended as a substitute for other veggies that the war made unavailable. Apparently there were cases of acute poisoning and even some deaths. Some animals, including goats and swine, have also been poisoned by ingesting the leaves.

FROST DAMAGE
Rhubarb hit by a frost or freeze can still be eaten provided the stalks are still firm and upright. Leaf injury may be noticeable with some brown or black discoloration on the edges. If the stems appear soft and mushy, do not eat them. Severe cold injury may cause the oxalic acid crystals in the leaves to migrate to the stalks increasing the likelihood of poisoning problems. If in doubt about the safety of eating the stalks, don't. Cut those stalks off and compost them. Allow new stalks to develop before eating, or if it is the end of the growing season, try forcing some rhubarb indoors.

This beautiful home surround by natures beauty has been an awesome project. Here is a few pictures of the work we have done so far. We designed a new front porch view that continues down the steps to a gorgeous river view. The shrubs and perennials will continue to give lots of color summer into fall. The new stamped curbing adds so much color and completes the look of the project. More pictures to come in the next few weeks! Planting, Trimming Shrubs, Cleaning Flower Beds, Removing Old Shrubs, Creating Small Flower Beds and Mowing Lawns! We have the best customers and we enjoy working with each one of you! What a great few weeks we have had!

What a great project we just finished! We planted lots of color starting in the spring and ending with a fabulous fall show! Love the color of this house it works awesome with the cedar mulch and new stamped edging.

Change is good! Removed two layers of retaining wall, shrubs, dirt and stone on this project. Everything is level now and you don’t have to step up into the flower bed anymore. Planted some new shrubs and perennials around the house. Finished it up with new border, fabric and mulch!

Great project last week was tilling up a backyard and leveling it out again. We also filled in low spots and planted all new grass.

Replaced a few shrubs and refreshed with new landscaping rock. Can’t wait see the summer and fall colors with these shrubs!

Added some colorful perennials to this flower bed and topped it off with cedar mulch!
