With just one week to go Norm and I are busy bees this weekend getting some final items made for next Friday - we can’t wait to see many familiar and lots of new faces at the September 6th & 7th! We’ll have fibre, yarn, a few spinning kits, some project bags, loads of stitch marker sets notions and tools and big smiles to greet ya! ✨

In addition to our advent this year, we have also added a few curated holiday boxes to our inventory. Great gift options / for those who aren’t into a bunch of mini skeins or want to try something different! These will ship towards the end of November, and stock is limited to ensure we get them to you before the holidays ❄️

We decided to do something a little different this year for our advent offering and you can read all about it on our website! But think: Canadian fibres, no pre-mixed colours, and an inspired palette.

We’ve still been here, dyeing up yarn, coming up with some new products, and checking in on all of your lovely project shares here and on Rav - just a little more quietly. This past winter was quite a rocky road with lots of colds and downtime, but the sun is now shining, summer is on the cusp, and we are feeling good!

I know a lot of you prefer smaller, lighter, ultra portable projects over the warmer months and I’m right there with you. The last month definitely did not go as planned and I ended up taking an unintentional break from posting but we have been battling cold after flu after cold and in all honesty I just didn’t have anything to post, or the energy to muster.

My plans for staying on track with my yarn advent cowl fell by the wayside, among other things.

I did manage to squeak out a hat for my nephew (forgot to photograph before gifting 😅) and matching hats for Mr Smash Knits and the Kiddo, but just barely.

So really I’m just popping on here to say that I hope everyone’s December was better than ours 😅, and I hope that you have all been able to enjoy lots of time with friends, family, and fibre over the holidays.

A huge, immense thnak you to everyone who has supported our little biz in the last year, it means more to us than you could ever know.

Here’s wishing a healthy, joy and creativity filled year ahead to you all. I can’t wait to see everything you create! ✨💕☺️ Happy New Year!

Somehow it’s December 7 just like that! I’m actually keeping up relatively well with my Scattered Petals scarf (pattwrn by ) using our Warm Rainbow advent; I’m hoping to do a colour (ish) a day which will have me half done by Christmas (each of the 24 colours repeats once). It’s an easy to memorize pattern with a soothing rhythm and I love seeing the warm ROYGBIV flow slowly coming to life!

Holiday Knitting Part Un ✨

I haven’t had a lot of knitting mojo the past while but I’m really excited to cast on the first of a few small gifts I’m planning to knit up. This one is extra special because it will be a completely Manitoba made toque for one of my nephews! The grey cake of yarn is some Finn worsted weight from that I received a few years ago as part of their Breed of the Month Club, and the baby cake is some of my very first handspun from a few years ago of 100% Alpaca from 😍 Just a few little extra details that add to the special factor, though I know my nephew (he’s just shy of 3) is not going to care 😅

In other news a big thanks to everyone who shopped our Holiday Sale - so many of you chose lots of bright skeins of yarn and it’s been a nice pop of colour packing them all up! I recently taught a beginner spinning class and prior to that, hadn’t spun in quite a while … picking it up for the class was so enjoyable and last night I made a point of sitting for 20 minutes before bed, beside the Christmas tree, and just spinning in the quiet. It was a sharp reminder of how much I’ve missed it and need to be better about making time for it. How do you go about fitting your creative endeavours into your day to day during very VERY busy seasons? 🩶

Whew! We have mostly recovered from the wonderful past weekend that was Manitoba Fibre Festival — what a whirlwind! We can’t thank the organizers and volunteers of , the staff at , and of course all of the amazing customers and people that we got to connect with last Friday & Saturday - we couldn’t do it without all of you! So thank you, thank you, thank you!!

If you weren’t able to make it, we debuted quite a few new products; some pictured here! Over the next couple of weeks we will be updating the shop with new sock blockers, gauge rulers, stitch stoppers and stitch markers, pompom buttons, mitten blockers, fibre, yarn… what else?! 😅

So much fluff, so little time. We are down to T minus two weeks before Manitoba Fibre Festival and I’m getting pretty excited about our set up and all of the great products we have lined up for you all!

When the kiddo hands you three of his toys and … perfect match! He’s only two but we have been working hard at colour theory 🤓 A little spinning break in between prep & advent dyeing! 💙💚

We are back from an awesome long weekend camping expedition (10 minutes from home = expedition when camping with a toddler 💁🏻‍♀️) and have updated the shop with a rainbow of sock & DK skeins just in time for your last summer project! Looking at all of these cheery colourways makes me want to cast on a bevy of new projects… so much yarn, so little time!

In 39 days we will be setting up shop at the after a two year hiatus - and we are so excited!

We will have lots of yarn on a variety of bases; lace, fi*****ng, DK, chunky and bulky, hand dyed fibre, a slew of wooden knitting & crochet accessories (think stitch markers, rulers, sock blockers), assorted sewn notions - project bags and yarn cozies, ample mini skein sets and maybe even an advent or two 👀👀.

Better late than never! 😅 has started a really cool and creative monthly dyeing prompt and this was the inspiration for June; a beautiful butterfly along with my resulting colourway, Flutter By 🦋 I’m planning to have July’s colourway finished in a few days, so it will actually be done in the proper month!
