For over a year, we're fighting and holding LMDC accountable for houseless folks who died in their custody! 11! 11 plus people have died in their facility and others from jail! We knew Metro Council was tone deaf but this is OUTRAGEOUS! How is someone homeless and houseless illegally taking up public space when you refuse to house them?!?!?

FILED: We're suing in state court to secure your right to access abortion under the rights to privacy, self-determination, and bodily autonomy in sections 1 and 2 of the Kentucky Constitution.

Without the protections of Roe, Kentucky lawmakers have entirely banned abortion. Attorney General Cameron began enforcing a 2019 “trigger law” that he argues went into effect when Roe was overturned last week. Both Kentucky providers stopped providing abortions out of an abundance of caution.

Without the federal protections of Roe, we must now sue in state court. We will never stop fighting for your right to make the best decisions for yourself. The government should never have the authority to force a person to remain pregnant against their will.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court has entirely overturned Roe and eviscerated the right to legal abortion in states like Kentucky. The court ruled that states can ban abortion altogether, upending 50 years of precedent that millions have relied upon.

We are prepared to sue in state court, arguing the Kentucky Constitution allows for the legal right to access abortion. We will aggressively litigate this on behalf of our client, EMW Women’s Surgical Center, and seek a ruling that will allow all providers to resume providing abortions as soon as possible.

Anti-abortion activists are likely to argue that abortion is now banned in Kentucky under a 2019 “trigger law.” As a precaution, our client has stopped providing care while our legal team analyzes the court’s opinion and how it relates to federal and Kentucky laws.

Whatever shifting barriers anti-abortion judges and politicians put before us, we will never stop fighting for your right to make the best decisions for yourself. The government should never have the authority to force a person to remain pregnant against their will.

For months several organizations and individuals from Advocates to impacted folks have been hold Louisville Metro Department of Coorections and it's partners accountable for the lives lost in it's main facility. One of those demands has been a community call for the release of low level offenses and to provide amnesty for those with warrants; in risk of arrest.

Week of Amnesty begins June 7, 2022. On the 7th, 8th and 9th, court will be held for anyone with a bench warrant for a non violent offense and class D felony.

I haven't seen any posts, events, not many comments, about Second Chance Month and or Reentry week here in KY...

But Ohio is on the ball with the news, stories, events, community engagement, etc.

It goes to show the lack of compassion we have for justice involved people here in KY. Why can't we do more to support? Why is our "justice" system so behind? Why does DRC constantly blame COVID for the lack of progression within our CJ system on ALL fronts...like visitation, reentry, probation/parole, education, etc.

Kentucky needs to do better!! I know I am sick of seeing so many families and individuals suffer from the lack of compassion KY has for our loved ones.
