Lila Lue Yoga
Hi I am Katrina, a 200h CYA RYT and avid rock climber and nature lover. I'm also a school teacher.
Calling all educators! 👩🏫👨🏫🧑🏫
(Tag an educator below if this isn’t you!)
Back-to-school is now only a few weeks away 😱😁🤯🤩
As an elementary teacher, this time of year always fills me with a mix of emotions: excitement, anxiousness, optimism, overwhelm, sadness that summer is ending, gratitude that summer happened. Anything sound familiar?
As a yoga teacher, I have curated a class just for you where we will hold space for all the feels that back-to-school brings as well as give you the opportunity to set the tone for the upcoming school year. This class, which is primarily physical poses (gentle) and guided meditation, will also include an optional journaling component at the end. You might just leave feeling validated, inspired, and a tad more confident to face the school year ahead 💪
By gifting yourself this experience, you are also gifting something to your students as all funds raised from this class will be donated to the local charity Teachers For Kids!
From their website: “The Teachers for Kids Foundation is a registered charity that was first conceived in 1986 to raise money to meet the needs of students suffering the effects of financial hardship”
Date: Wednesday August 28th (day before the PA day)
🌧️ Rain date: Thursday August 29th (PA day)

The first class begins on the heels of the “fall back” time change. Just around the time when the fun of Halloween has faded along with the daylight and the brisk freshness of autumn has begun to turn into a deeper chill.
💛We will tend to our bodies
💛We will tend to our minds
💛We will tend to our spirits…at a time when they tend to be a little low.
You’re invited to join.

It's back for the fall!
After the positive reception in the spring, I have decided to go ahead and run another 4-part Yoga for Climbers series 🧘🧗
This will be a similar offering as before with a few tweaks!
This offering is for you no matter your experience level with climbing or yoga 👍

You may have noticed that the cost of the course has increased (although the same if you get the early bird rate!) and this is in recognition of the fact that I now have more experience and this is no longer an experimental offering. This price is also more in line with the going market rate for yoga classes. As with all my offerings, there is a discount for equity seeking groups ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
Rock on 😎

About a week late on this post (it's been busy!), but I did want to publicly thank the Kawartha Pine Ridge Elementary Teachers Federation for the opportunity to lead a session at the Women's Retreat last weekend!
It was an absolute pleasure to share some reflections on how a holistic yoga practice can benefit teachers specifically, offer some ideas for implementing yoga in the classroom (such as by inviting WOWYoga !) and of course to guide a practice for the over 30 teachers who joined the session 🧘
It was a privilege to also attend a session on educator burnout by the brand new Working Human and a source of fabulous entertainment to participate in drag bingo by and !
Overall an incredible weekend with incredible colleagues and presenters alike 🤩
I'm hoping to dig a little deeper into yoga for educators and share some content on Insta around that so stay tuned and follow along if that is of interest to you!
And now for something completely different!
Fun fact: I love to climb 🧗♂️
I discovered climbing at Rock and Rope Climbing Centre in 2019 and it was exactly the kind of physical activity I’d been looking to add to my life:
✅ Full body workout.
✅ Individual challenge, but with community support.
✅ High level of mental focus required.
✅ Sense of having accomplished something.
In fact, many of the same reasons I originally fell in love with a yoga asana practice.
After having been inspired by Ieva 's Luna's Youtube channel, I have been contemplating the idea of running a yoga for climbers series for about a year. I am excited to have finally arrived at a place where I feel equipped enough to deliver such an offering.
I strive for the yoga I guide to be as accessible as possible. While this offering is a little more niche and the guidance will be designed specifically for the audience of climbers, I still want as many folks as possible to feel comfortable joining.
👉If you enjoy yoga, but are new to climbing, this offering is for you.
👉If you are a climber, but have never done yoga, this offering is for you.
👉If you already do both, I hope this offering has intrigued you!
As the climbing gym doesn’t have the facilities for such a program, I have been able to partner with PTBO Chiro (which is just up the street) to rent out their lovely basement studio space.
In this series, we will explore movements and postures to support you with strengthening muscles used in climbing, countering muscle imbalances, developing flexibility, increasing mobility, and practicing balancing skills, all of which will improve your agility on the wall and contribute to preventing injury.
We will also go beyond the physical aspect of yoga (asana) and explore how breathwork (pranayama) and the wisdom teachings of yoga can be used to support your mental game.
Feel free to reach out with any questions you have.
I hope to see you off the wall and on the mat!

❄️ NEW YEAR NEW OFFERING ❄️
I am excited to share with you that I am taking a little risk and experimenting with a slightly new kind of offering to kick off 2023 on the holiday Monday!
This is a yoga + journaling experience.
Begin the year intentionally with a generous hour of yoga followed by some time (10min ish) to capture your thoughts, reflections and intentions on paper.
In the yoga practice we will be using physical movement and guided meditation to cultivate an intention for the year ahead. This, along with some journaling prompts, will serve as inspiration for what to write… or draw… or doodle! Whatever way you feel called to express yourself :)
That being said, if journaling isn’t your jam, you are welcome to just take the extra time to let your thoughts simmer in your mind space with an extended savasana.
May this $23 investment in yourself set the tone for your 2023.
As always, I would be honoured to have you join 🙏
❄️Journals and pens provided to take home.
❄️ Yoga mats and props available to borrow.
❄️ An intentional blend of essential oils diffused in the space.

Today CUPE education workers are standing up to a bully of a government.
As an elementary teacher, I work alongside many CUPE staff (EAs, ECEs, secretaries, custodians, etc.) every day. I can tell you that they are hardworking and dedicated individuals, some of whom have, what I would consider, some of the most challenging jobs in a school. On top of that, many also VOLUNTEER their time to support student wellbeing and success.
They deserve to be fairly compensated for their work. FULL STOP.
I remember the stress of striking from 3 years ago and the feeling that I should try not to spend any extra money, while at the same time needing to take actions to support my mental health.
One of the things I have enjoyed about starting a yoga business is the new opportunity it has offered to live by my values.
As an act of solidarity, I would like to offer one CUPE education worker a place in my upcoming Seasonal Change Yoga Series for FREE*
You can also check out my previous post, but the basic details of the series are as follows:
Dates: Nov 11, 18, 25, Dec 2 (Fridays)
Time: 5-6pm
Location: Peterborough Living Yoga (394 George St.)
In order to be entered for this giveaway, like this post AND send me a PM with your name, CUPE role and email! I will draw names LIVE on Sunday afternoon.
If you know a CUPE member who would be interested in this offering, then tag them below!
*NOTE: If you are the selected person, you will be required to submit a $20 deposit to hold your spot this offering. This deposit will be FULLY REFUNDED at the end of the series. In the event that you are unable to make a class, you are responsible for finding someone to take your place.
NEW OFFERING ALERT 🤗
I am excited to announce that I will be guiding this 4-part yoga series at the beautiful studio owned by . The theme is helping ease the transition into what I would call the “cold and dark season”. You know, that awkward time after the fun of Halloween and before most winter holidays ramp up. The time where daylight savings strikes, it’s dark before dinner, and you start noticing frost in the mornings…
Yoga classes won’t make it go away, but they can provide you with a protected and supportive space to process the feelings that arise at this time of year.
I would be honoured to have you join 🙏
Link to register here: https://katrinabehr.wixsite.com/lila-lue-yoga/blank-
You can register for the full series or a just single session
Note:
For the first class on Nov 11th, we will also hold space for anyone you would like to honour on this day, should you feel called to do so.
Fun fact:
Ancient Celtic tradition considers October 31 to be the end of the harvest season and Nov. 1 (today) to be the start of the winter season and a new year (this time is known as Samhain and is also part of where Halloween comes from). I have Irish ancestry and am becoming more interested in exploring this, so I particularly appreciate the connection this time of year has to Celtic/ pagan traditions.
Did you catch my post about this event?

Do you ever take time to just sit with nature?
Not just in nature, but truly with it.
Drawing from our training in Yoga and Tibetan attention training methods, both originating in Southeastern Asia, and respectfully recognizing our position as descendants of settlers on this land (traditional territory of the Miichi Saagiig Nishnaabeg), David and I humbly seek to hold a space where you can develop, even if just for a moment, a connection with the natural world that is deep and true and expansive.
Yoga is accessible for all bodies and levels.
🌲Instructors: Katrina Behr & David Marshall.
🐦Dates: (Sundays) August 7, August 28, and September 25

KLT's Immersive Nature Workshops Deepen your connection with nature and self through these immersive nature connection workshops!
Do you ever take time to just sit with nature?
Not just in nature, but truly with it.
The forces of colonization, industrialization and modernization have led to the current landscape where so many of us are simply disconnected from the land. Sometimes even those of us who spend a lot of time outdoors.
Drawing from our training in Yoga and Tibetan meditation practices, both originating in Southeastern Asia, and respectfully recognizing our position as descendants of settlers on this land (the traditional territory of the Mississauga First Nations/ Miichi Saagiig Nishnaabeg), David and I humbly seek to hold a space where you can develop, even if just for a moment, a connection with the natural world that is deep and true and expansive.
We would be honoured for you to join us ☀️
