Super Spike took his role in the wedding very seriously and was an absolute star…
Nigel was a bit young to be trusted with an actual role, but he did a good job looking pretty in pictures! 🤣

After the heartbreaking loss of our lovely Harley last year, we are still looking for the right equine & their human to join our little yard.
Available from 1st August we will have a space in our herd of 8 for a gelding, 16hh and under.
Sadly we can’t accept horses with back shoes or mares.

Please see below for an outline of how we keep our horses, and if you feel we may suit you and your horse please drop me a message…

Full livery (no DIY) on a friendly, small private yard.
9 stables on 18 acres and a very large corral for group hard standing turnout (useful for wet weather and horses needing restricted grazing).
10 minutes road work to excellent hacking in Rushmere, Stockgrove, Ramamere woods and heathland.

We would ideally suit ladies who love spending quiet, quality time with their horses, enjoy hacking, clinics, fun rides, chatting, coffee/cake breaks and the occasional night out!

Geldings up to 16hh, with no back shoes who are well mannered and enjoy plenty of group turnout - we keep them in a natural herd situation as much as possible, turnout is all year (extreme weather depending), stables are used minimally.
Our usual routine is for the horses to go out to graze at night and come into the corral through the day, thus enabling the horses to stay as a herd and have as much time out as possible, but having them on hand to be ridden through the day, to help monitor weight more effectively and rest the paddocks.

Livery includes;
▪️7 days a week day to day care of your horse, treated as if they were our own.
▪️All hay, standard hard feed and bedding (fair use applies)
▪️Stable
▪️Secure tack storage
▪️Turn out and bring in
▪️Rug changes as needed
▪️Sun cream application as necessary
▪️Fly masks & grazing muzzles taken off/on as needed
▪️Multiple daily checks
▪️Muck out, poo picking, skip out,
haying stables or corral 2-4 times daily.
▪️Use of all facilities
▪️Catching in / turning out and holding for farrier, if you use the yard farrier.
▪️Yard worming programme - wormed or worm count 4 times a year.
▪️Lots of hacking buddies available (hacks go out almost daily)
▪️Assistance with vet/dentist/physio/saddler/etc.

Facilities include;
▪️24 x 42 all weather, flexiride arena.
▪️Hacking tracks around farm (summer months)
▪️Under cover washdown area.
▪️30’ x 130’ hard standing turnout corral, with multiple hay stations and 2 large, rubber matted field shelters.
▪️Secure tack room
▪️Tea room with kitchen facilities and tea, coffee and biscuits a plenty!
▪️Proper loo!
▪️large isolation/rehab stable with small turnout area.
▪️Owners live on site
▪️Lorry/trailer parking facilities
▪️Excellent yard Farrier visits every 6 weeks
▪️Cross country jumps (inc. future plans for a water crossing) and grass schooling available in the summer months.

5 weeks and 3 days to go until Rhiannon & Jack get married, so we’re busy getting both Spike, who is bringing Rhiannon to the ceremony, and Nigel, who isn’t trust worthy enough to have a role on the day (other than to have photos taken!) desensitised to the wedding paraphernalia… everything is going well so far!

Ice cream season is back! ☀️😃🥳

I spent a lovely few minutes watching the herd graze this evening, blissfully enjoying the dry, warmth (and grass!)… such a shame the two day break from the rain is forecast to end tomorrow afternoon! 😩😭💔

The amazing story of Lennie & Tommy…

Lennie came to The Three Locks Stables in May 2019 when his mum, Clayre, bought him from a dealer in Evesham.

Fast forward to July 2023 when Tommy & his mum, Annika, came to The Three Locks Stables. We quickly found out that both Lennie & Tommy had come from the same dealer in Evesham (about 1.5hrs away), but Annika bought Tommy about 6 moths before Clayre bought Lennie, so we knew the ponies paths hadn’t crossed there - still pretty co-incidental though!

By sheer chance, a few weeks ago, it was discovered whilst looking at the passports, that Lennie & Tommy shared the same old owner! Annika was still in contact with her so quickly messaged. Tommy’s old owner confirmed that Lennie & Tommy had spent 3 years together when they were babies and she had been trying to trace Lennie for years!

Both ponies had been rescued from not nice situations, Lennie from a roundabout in Middlesbrough when he was 6 months old. Tommy didn’t fare as well, his situation was more harrowing and was rescued as a 2 year old.

They are now firm friends and it’s lovely to watch them interact with the new understanding of them being old friends!

Looking back at the photos & videos of when we first started introducing Tommy to the herd, we noticed that it was Lennie who was the first horse to approach and say hello every time, I now wonder if it’s because they recognised each other - either way it seems like fate that they should end up together again now ❤️

Surely the rain has to stop sometime?!
Regardless of the wet stuff we’ve had a busy couple of months on the yard, and used the floods to our advantage, who doesn’t love a good splash?! 🤷🏻‍♀️🌊

🎄🤶🏻Merry Christmas! 🤶🏻🎄
We didn’t get to do our big Christmas Eve hack this morning (thanks to 50mph winds 💨🙄), but we’ve managed to have a few Christmassy rides, hopefully we’ll get a couple more in before the New Year! Xx

Lovely sunny hack yesterday morning - best news - Rushmere have started selling ice cream cones again! 🥳🥳🥳
After struggling to ride with tubs cones are very welcome, and tasty! (Obviously we managed with tubs, it wasn’t so hard that we’d miss out on ice cream!🤷🏻‍♀️)

All the ponies (and cats!) sensibly sheltering from the rain while I search for last nights poo in their jungle!

Horses can be like teenagers - trying to convince this lot this morning it was time to get up was tricky! 🙄😴

After some late nights the concreting is finally finished! 🥳
Hoping the patchwork effect lessens as it all dries! 🤞🏼🤣
Just need the rain to bu**er off so I can get on with the spring painting, new fencing, new muck heap and finish drainage…
