The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
My favorite Universal Monster, that's saying a lot considering it lives among an infamous lineup of great creature designs. As I sat in front of my board with oils flowing along the canvas, I couldn't help but think back to the 1st time I saw this film. Somewhere in the mid 80's, I must've been around 10 years old. Back in the day when you could get 3D glasses from the gas station and watching a movie on grandpa's 50" projection television, (remembers those?) felt like the coolest thing ever, especially considering our 26" tube at home. Unfortunately, the 3D was terrible! I can't help but laugh at how awful it was.πŸ˜‚ Oh the memories.
Despite that, I loved the film. The Gillman managed to leave an everlasting impression that has my appreciation of his history and design growing more and more as I get older.
I'm excited to include his design in our product line along with his brethren. We'll keep you updated on his impending release into the Roxxy Horror wild 😈- Chris Stevens

The Creature From The Black Lagoooooon! One of our absolute favorite Universal Monster designs. Thankfully, it is no longer a deep dark secret that Milicent Patrick was the true designer and creator of the infamous Gillman. Her influences in our genre can be seen in part of the design of the It Came From Outer Space Globs, Mr. Hyde in Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and the Metaluna mutant in This Island Earth.
Chris is excited to be working on this piece and I can't wait to see how it's going to turn out!

Went to Silver Springs! This is the spot where they filmed the underwater scenes with Ricou Browning as 1954's The Creature from the Black Lagoon! This was an amazing experience. Inspiration has arisen from the depths which can mean only one thing.....new content! Coming soooooooon!

Learned the hard way that taking photos of product to sell online is not as easy as it seems. Even with a new phone....the pictures just don't do the product justice. The colors aren't what they should be and closeups just suck.
Bought this hoping the dude who sold it to me knew what he was talking about and I'm quickly learning that I know nothing about taking pictures with a real camera. We'll get there. Photo Mastery in progress!!! Ha! I'd settle for just some really good pictures.

Roxxy Horror is a family owned business operated by Candi and Chris Stevens. Our tiny creature from the deep is Olivia (aka Liv, Livi, brat, punk, spawn of satan) and she is such a great help making price tags for Roxxy's Heads of Horror! Grandma was also a tremendous help in getting us ready in time for what was a last minute decision to attend. We felt unprepared with little to offer, but with the support and encouragement from our family, we took what we had and put our best foot forward. We are beyond thankful! πŸ–€πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’™

We had such a great time!!! The entire weekend was fun and exciting! However, the highlight of our time at Spookala would have to be when Quinn Lord, aka Sam from our beloved Halloween classic Trick r' Treat came to our table to check out the goods. He gave us a remarkable compliment! Later that evening he came back around and as a trade for one of our Sam's he offered to sign to another! He jokingly suggested elevating the price but there's no way I'm selling this bad boy!!! He was such a nice down to earth guy, we enjoyed the time he gave us at our table. Thank you so much!
