John Schneider whose path to stardom began as an 18-year-old as Bo on the Dukes of Hazzard is making a special, one-time appearance in his home state of New York on July 23rd at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY.
Having discovered dirt track racing only a few years ago, the lifelong car enthusiast will be traveling direct from a performance in Las Vegas to Plattsburgh, NY for a one-night only appearance.
“I’m a proud New Yorker having spent the early part of my life in Mount Kisco,” said Schneider. “I’m eager to get back for a visit to my home state.
“I discovered dirt track racing two years ago and am having the time of my life with these cars,” he continued. “It’s so different from anything I’ve done. Driving the General Lee was Hollywood. Although I was lucky to do many of the stunts – and even a few jumps – we weren’t usually going that fast in front of the cameras. And for sure there weren’t a couple dozen cars out there at the same time. Racing is so intense.”

Schneider will be available for an exclusive, limited attendance VIP meet-and-greet session on Saturday afternoon where fans can ask about his role as Bo on the Dukes, Jonathan Kent on the hit television series Smallville, his great run on Dancing with the Stars, or recent productions like his tribute to Smokey and the Bandit called Stand on It and Poker Run.
Schneider, who at just 22, founded the Children’s Miracle Network (which has raised over $7 billion since – typically via $1 paper balloon sales), and collaborated with 2Vets on a Mission including through the video “Can I Buy You a Beer?” is an American icon whose appearance you don’t want to miss.
Prior to the evening’s races, Schneider will – as he once did for President Ronald Reagan – perform his special rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
Schneider has always enjoyed stock car racing, especially since working with NASCAR stars Terry Labonte and a chance meeting with Carl Edwards at a race. It was, however, some local friends who encouraged him to try dirt track racing and now he’s hooked.
Normally campaigning a Southern Sport Mod, Schneider and Speedway Illustrated magazine publisher Karl Fredrickson whose only experience at Airborne has been on pavement, will race each other in five-lap, winner-take-all match race. “John and I have become buddies over the last few years, but there are no friends on the track,” said Fredrickson. “I’ve got my reputation to uphold. I’ll try not to lap him.”
“We’ll see,” said Schneider.
