5th grade girls finished 2nd in Rockford on 1/8/22. Run and gun all day as the girls scored 68 points in three games.

5th Grade Girls with Avery Low played in the 6th grade bracket on 1/15 in Nashua. Girls played hard all day and came away with the sportsmanship trophy. Thanks to the Husky Booster Club for hosting a great event.

CC’s 5th grade girls kicked off their season today and got their first win. Thanks to Coach Chambers for assisting today and to the Osage community for hosting a great tournament.

Wrapped up 3-6th grade City League last night. Thank you to all that helped and to the Charles City YMCA for use of the gym!

CCYBB will be hosting two informational meetings for travel basketball. Open to all Charles City Boys and Girls in 3rd through 6th grade. Both meetings are on Tuesday, November 2nd. First meeting is at 545pm in the high school cafeteria and the second will be at 830pm in the middle school commons.

Our 6th grade Comets wrapped up their travel season in Waverly on February 27th. I enjoyed coaching these kids and watching them improve this winter.

Breakdown with our 6th grade boys after their first tournament in Osage on February 13th. The boys played hard!

The 7th grade boys finished 2-1 in the South Winn tournament on February 6th. Great job kids and a big thanks to our coaches.

5th grade picked up some more hardware this season with a first place finish in Waverly. Great job kids!

City League for 3rd thru 6th grade boys and girls starts this week. It’s not too late to sign up.

CCYBBs summer boys basketball program is on hold as we await guidance from Federal, State and local agencies on handling youth activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If we hold a summer season it will be mid-June through late July. If you are an incoming 8th through 12th grader in CC and interested in playing later this summer contact Eric Mayhew, 9524127754. Stay well.

The Class of 2024 (8th Grade) finished their travel season with wins against Central Springs and Denver in Waverly on 2/29/20. This is a great group to coach and it is fun watching them work and improve. Thanks to all the parents for your support this season.

Class of 2026 (6th grade) finished their travel season with a win against Mason City in Waverly on 2/29/20. Great job boys!

6th grade boys played at UNI on 2/15/20.

3rd grade started their Super Sunday with scrimmages against North Butler and Nashua-Plainfield on 2/2/20.

6th grade played in South Winn and took a couple of tough Ls on Saturday (2/1/20). They were back to work Sunday scrimmaging the kids from Nashua.

8th grade literally ran passed NFV, Riceville and Kingsland (MN) to take 1st place in South Winn on 2/1/20. Awesome effort and unselfishness.

3rd grade boys played in Clarksville this weekend. Thanks to Coach Dano Caffrey and Coach Johnson for working with these kids this season.

6th grade went 2-1 this Saturday, 1/25/20 in St Ansgar. Great job Coach Hanson and Coach Hansen for teaching these kids what it means to be a Comet on and off the court.

5th grade finished in 2nd place this Saturday in New Hampton. Thanks Coach Fox and Coach Schoeck for leading the team.

4th grade boys went 2-2 in St Ansgar on 1/25/20. Great job Coach Eckhoff and Coach Hadley!

It was a big weekend for CCYB boys’ teams. 3rd grade played in Clarksville, 4th played in St Ansgar and New Hampton and 5th and 6th played in St Ansgar. Thanks to all our coaches and players for representing Charles City this weekend and thanks to our parents for braving the weather.

8th grade boys went 3-0 in the Central Springs tourney today. The kids had a slow start but improved with each game. Everyone contributed and defensively they worked together and slowed down some really good scorers from Osage, Forest City and Central Springs.
