1 hour speedwrite of Auld Lang Syne / Wij Houden van Oranje (We Love Orange)
I have always loved this melody, and every time the national football team plays at a major tournament, it reappear on radio & TV. The song reminds me of how, as a boy, I hoped Oranje would come home with the big cup.
But, I never realized that the tune is originally a Scottish song called Auld Lang Syne.
(From Wikipedia) It’s a poem/song by Scottish poet Robert Burns. The title is Scottish and can be translated as 'long ago' or 'bygone days'. Burns said he wrote down the lyrics from the mouth of a Scottish man and adapted them in the manner of old Scottish ballads. He possibly based it partly on an earlier version by Robert Ayton. He also provided a melody to it, although it is not the one used today. This melody is known worldwide, including in non-English-speaking countries, and is generally better known than the lyrics.
Sample libraries used: Vista Strings, Berlin Woodwinds, several brass libraries stacked and a Spitfire Percussion timpani.

Hard work pays off! 'Grenzeloos Verraad' is an independently produced film set during WWII that is now coming to cinemas nationwide! We successfully pitched to one of Holland's largest distributors Dutch Film Works who will also release this film internationally on video streaming services.
While I first started working on it two years ago, the filmmakers had been working for many years already to improve this passion project. Dutch Film Works jumped in and they will distribute worldwide. We will also write new music. This has been quite a ride! Thanks to Peter Nelissen, Thomas Nauw, Rob Camies, Efin de Landmeter, Anton van der Koppel, JP Geersing, Dennis Bots and everyone else involved.

I'm really proud to share this music with you I’ve composed for the French/English short film PRÆY.
I've been extremely lucky to work along with directors Louis Gambardella and Razvan Rotariu who have written this beautiful story about a young wanderer roaming the country side of France. One summer night she falls upon a fierce hunter, an asocial loner, living a peaceful life outside of society. Their encounter will lead them to a hunt, challenging their conviction, and faith.

Ruben Norg did an amazing job on the sounddesign. I asked him to take over my SD responsability when I was going on wintersport back in March, while the Cannes deadline came closer and closer.
Had a blast working on this movie as a boom operator and eventually as a film composer. 🎬😇🎻

This week three years ago d'Oale Markt premiered in Enschede theaters, directed by Peter Scholten. The documentary describes 150 years of history about the Oude Markt in Enschede by only showing old collected, archived pictures, beautifully narrated by Laus Steenbeeke.
