Hey! I'm Kirsty I've been hairdressing in and around Basingstoke since September 2018. I run a mobil

With no date set yet when hairdressers can return to work I thought I would reshare my men’s haircut video I made in lockdown 1.
Best advice is if you can leave it please do (at least this time you can wear a beanie when you go out the house 😉). It is much easier for me (and other hairdressers to cut long hair back into shape then it is to rectify a dodgy cut (or correct an uneven colour!).
Look forward to seeing you all as soon as I’m able, take care - Kirsty Xx

**LAST MINUTE APPOINTMENT SPARE BEFORE LOCKDOWN**
I have a 10am slot free this coming Tuesday if anyone would like it please drop me a message 😊 it’s only a 2 hour slot so couldn’t fit in a big colour and cut but perfect for a cut or a quick root touch up x

Sadly following the government announcements I will have to close for business from this Thursday until 2nd December. I will be in touch if you had an appointment booked already in November and try my hardest to accommodate you all in December where possible 😊 thank you all for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing you all again when I can return to work Xx

Latest Statement for England

This evening the Prime Minister has announced a national lockdown from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December.

This will include the closure of all non-essential services within hair and beauty including mobile services.

The furlough scheme, which was due to end today, will now be extended through November covering 80% of employees’ wages.

The NHBF is speaking with Government to push for further support measures for our sector.

**New Service**
I’m now offering OLAPLEX. This two step system works on a molecular level to repair and restore broken bonds in your hair. It can be used as a stand alone treatment or mixed into the colour each time.

OLAPLEX repairs all types of hair damage including thermal (heat) damage, chemical (colouring&bleaching), mechanical (tugging/brushing) and environmental damage caused by the sun or extreme cold. All of these factors contribute to damage and can cause hair breakage.

Results show from just one use!
Ask me more about OLAPLEX if you would like to add this onto your usual colour service.

No.1 and 2 are applied professionally as part of the OLAPLEX service. No.3* is an at-home treatment you apply to wet hair for 10minutes before washing as usual to keep repairing and prevent damage in between hair appointments. *no. 3 sold as an optional extra if you wish to keep it up at home

What a week!!! This week has been my busiest week in the whole 12 years I’ve been freelance hairdressing!!
As much as I’ve loved seeing everyone and making your hair look wonderful again it has been really full on and hectic!

Things I’ve learnt:

- A ‘Phantom Visor’ becomes a thing when you wear one all day 🤣
- 9am-9pm does feel as long as it sounds!
- Bigger roots do take longer to do!
- Travel time between appointments is important to account for
- My husband is one in a million and has made me dinner every evening 💕
- I am blessed to have such amazing loyal clients!

Now to have a well deserved drink 🍻 and put my feet up for a day ready to start it all over again on Monday 🤪

14 weeks and 4 days it’s been since I was last able to work!
It’s crazy how quickly the time has gone by! If someone had told me back in March that lockdown would last until July I would never have believed them!

It hasn’t been as bad as I first thought, although I’ve missed seeing family, friends and clients we’ve got through it (for now at least).
Grateful to have spent it with Chris (luckily our ski seasons definitely got us used to allll the time together!). It gave us the gift of time to appreciate what we have and also enabled us to get lots of house and garden jobs done!

I do feel it has been that long I’ve adjusted to this strange new normal where I deliver takeaways for a living 😆
In some ways it has also changed us for the better, getting outdoors more and exercising. We appreciate the area we live in and have found beautiful walks on our doorstep! (I’m starting to sound 30 now aren’t I 🤦🏻‍♀️) We have also enjoyed being at home more, for years we have hardly spent time at home relaxing and taking the day as it comes. Some days it has been nice to have no plans and realise that’s ok!

There have been days of fear, uncertainty and worry but we’ve tried not to let them get on top of us. Things always find a way of working themselves out in the end 🙂

To be honest I’m a little nervous to get back to work as, like many I’m sure, I’m worried this virus may come back causing further lockdowns. I really hope we don’t see crowds and stupidity as pubs open and businesses start up again. If everyone does their bit to help hopefully we can all stay safe and well 🤞🏻

If you do have an appointment soon please be patient with me, I’m figuring it all out too, learning the best way to work effectively with all of the new guidelines. Things may take me a little longer than usual and I do need to sanitise everything between clients. I’ll make it work out and we will all adjust 😊

Look forward to seeing you and catching up,

Kirsty Xx

If you booked an appointment with me I have sent out my Covid guidelines to you all by email. If you have not received this please check your junk/spam box as sometimes my emails could end up in there until you mark me as safe or not spam.
Thank you ☺️

26/06/2020

Yayyy I have called everyone from my list. The diary is open now please do contact me if you would like an appointment and don’t have one already ☺️
For all of those with bookings I will be sending my information email to you all soon. The admin involved calling, booking, creating my guidance sheet and updating my email list has taken a little longer than I thought! I will be ready to send it soon though (just not today as I’m now delivering for JustEat 😆 )
Have a lovely weekend and stay safe everyone and I’ll see you in July Xx

25/06/2020

Completely underestimated how long it would take to call and book people from my list (definitely due to too much chatting so please don’t worry there is still availability from mid to end of July at the moment).
I’m going to resume in the morning now speak to you soon if I haven’t yet. And so lovely to speak to you if I did get a chance to chat today 🤗 Xx

I've been working behind the scenes during lockdown, completing both Barbicide Courses so I have a good understanding of the best health and safety practises to reopen in the safest possible way from 4th July.
I'm stocked up on Barbicide to properly disinfect all of my kit before and after every client.
The safety of all of my clients is of upmost importance and I will be following the government guidelines for hairdressers once it is released.
I look forward to opening up my appointment diary tomorrow!

Update about my return to work:

08/06/2020

Covid 19 update:

Hey everyone hope you are well 😊
I will reopen my diary after the next government announcement when they confirm the hairdressing sector can return to work. I think they plan the next big announcement mid June. I am hoping they say I can open from 4th July as they previously said it could potentially be this date but need to wait for confirmation. I will also need to ensure I follow any new safety regulations they put in place.
I will be calling clients who are on my list (which has all previously cancelled appointments on) after this announcement.
Thank you for your continued support and patience. Looking forward to seeing you all again ☺️

COVID 19 update:
Following the government’s most recent advise unfortunately I am not able to go back to work until 4th July at the earliest according to this statement. This is due to the close nature of our business, meaning it is impossible to maintain social distancing between myself and my clients.
As much as I’d love to return to work conquering this disease and saving lives is much more important at this time. We all need to do our bit to fight this. Miss you all, take care of yourselves, Kirsty 💕

The NHBF has written an open letter to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Alok Sharma, calling for clarification from the government that guidelines for the hair and beauty industry apply to the sector as a whole, regardless of whether stylists, barbers or beauty therapists are working in salons or in non-salon settings.

Please read the guidelines and the letters here https://www.nhbf.co.uk/news-and-blogs/news/nhbf-writes-to-secretary-of-state-for-business-energy-and/

The perfect way to help look after your hair at home is with a hair masque! Check out my video sharing my 2 favourite hair masques **price update: you can buy the Sebastian one on amazon for £12.67.
Treat your hair for under £15! Use once a week to help keep your hair in tip top condition.
The best thing we can do right now to care for our hair is wait for your hairdresser and allow your hair to be nourished (with a masque) and give it a break to rest from heat styling and colour!

My recommendations are:

Sebastian Penetraitt:
- Protein-based strengthens and repairs

Macadamia Oil Masque:
- Hydrates and revitalises

A Facebook error at the moment means these reviews aren’t sharing to the reviews section for some people, hopefully they will fix it with an update soon. If you were thinking of leaving a review maybe wait a week or so if that’s ok until it’s hopefully resolved, thank you 🥰

08/05/2020

Need a helping hand with a mens haircut at home? 7 weeks with no hairdressers is a long time in the world of men's hair! Well I can hopefully help you along the way with this video demo I made during lockdown!
(Reposting as this is where my hairdressing videos will now live rather than on my hair and makeup page and you may not have needed it then but might do now 😉)
Any other questions please do reach out to me I will help you as much as I can (from a distance!) Hopefully it won't be too much longer and I can come and see you all again, keep safe everyone Xx

06/05/2020

Hey guys! Sorry if you posted a review and it came up on your own timeline instead, I’m not sure why that happened 🤦🏻‍♀️
If you’d like to leave me a review (I’d be very grateful if you do) you click on ‘Reviews’ under the cover photo on this page, tap to recommend and then tap ‘Share your experience’ to leave your review and then share and it should show up for future clients to see ☺️
Thank you for your support 💕

05/05/2020

Hey guys! As part of a Social Media for Business course I am taking at the moment I decided it was about time to create a page for purely my home hairdressing business! (I mean it's only taken me 12 years to realise it could be a useful tool!)
This is in addition to my hair and makeup page as I treat them as the two different sides of my business.
Through this page I will share any announcements or offers I may have running.
Please feel free to share my page/details with anyone but please bare in mind my home hairdressing is only available in the Basingstoke area. My hair and makeup services cover a much wider area and can be found at Kirsty Fraser Hair and Make-up Artist
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience throughout this pandemic, we will get through this and I can't wait to see you all again!! Stay safe - Kirsty 💕

About Me

Hey, I’m Kirsty!

I’m a mobile hairdresser operating in and around Basingstoke, Hampshire. I have been a self employed hairdresser for the last 12 years, visiting people in their homes to fo their hair. I did start off working in a salon in Basingstoke town centre but left to be fully mobile and qualify in doing makeup in 2010.

I got married in 2018 to my amazing husband Chris, we have been together for 11 years with a shared love for travel, adventures and snow sports! 2020 is the year I turn 30 (eek!) but I have throughly enjoyed my 20’s, made amazing memories in many different places but have always returned to Basingstoke. We have a cat Heidi who my dad found as a kitten in his garden 8 years ago (Chris to this day doesn’t believe that is true but she’s very much part of our home now!).

The great outdoors and being active makes me feel good, over the years I’ve learnt nature and beautiful scenery ‘heals’ my mind and makes me feel free! It’s probably all of those holidays I had as a child where my dad took me to the Scottish Highlands to see our family (if you’ve been you’ll know!). Although I’m outdoorsy I can’t go a day without a little bit of makeup (yep Chris has learnt to live with the fact I won’t even go to the shop without a few layers of mascara!), it just makes me feel like ‘me’.
