Tomorrow: You are invited to attend Employees with Disabilities Presents Speaker: Brittanie Hernandez-Wilson – Understanding the Intersections of Ableism and Race. The presentation is on Thursday, February 22 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
Join activist Brittanie Hernandez-Wilson, advocating for Disability and Racial Justice, as she explores the intersectionality of Ableism and Race.
During this presentation, Brittanie will first define Ableism and explore its manifestations across various aspects of our world, ranging from institutional barriers to ingrained biases. Gain insights into two prevalent models of disability—the medical model and the social model— and understand how societal perceptions contribute to shaping the experiences of disabled people. Tuesday November 7: It’s Election Day
Join our partners at Metropolitan Council’s Metro Mobility TOMORROW for their first in-person community conversation since 2020. They’ll gather to share experiences with Metro Mobility, including areas of concern, fresh new ideas, and strategies for improving service.
The 90-minute event is designed for Metro Mobility riders. Share your feedback to make Metro Mobility even safer and more convenient.
The conversation will begin as a large group to discuss recent developments, trends, and service updates. Then, it will break into smaller groups to identify what’s working and what needs to improve. Expect a fun, engaging environment with refreshments and camaraderie among friends, other riders, and staff. There will also be a question-and-answer session.

MNCCD is mourning the loss of Bud Rosenfield, who died suddenly last weekend.
For many years, Bud was a Supervising Attorney at the Minnesota Disability Law Center and most recently served as the Ombudsman for Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities.
In his leadership on behalf of the entire disability community, Bud not only leveraged his extensive professional experience, but his personal relationship as the family member of an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Bud was a fierce advocate; a policy expert; an influential change-maker; a supportive mentor; a trusted advisor; a true friend. His contributions to our community were too many and too profound to put into words. He left us far too soon, and will be deeply missed.
MNCCD will share details about any services or memorials held on Bud’s behalf as soon as we learn more.
Our hearts are with everyone grieving Bud’s death as we celebrate his life and legacy.
ID: a picture from Grand Teton National Park taken by Bud in the fall of 2021. A grey mountain is in the distance, with bright blue sky above. The mountain range is reflected in calm, blue water at the foreground of the photo. Orange trees are at the base of the mountain, with shaded trees on either side of the frame.

Happy Disability Pride Month! July was declared Disability Pride due to the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. Disability Pride Month now shares the joys, the barriers, the accomplishments, and the history of disabled people.
