We are all Mohammed Saleem

Mohammad Saleem was brutally attacked and killed by a neo-N**i terrorist whilst walking home from his local mosque. The very same N**i went on a three-month bombing campaign and put bombs outside three mosques across the West Midlands. This was one of the biggest acts of terrorism on UK soil. Yet, to this day most people have no idea about this case. This is in part due to the silence of mainstream media.

Attacks of this nature do not happen in a vacuum. Individuals are emboldened to act on their hate because they are empowered by the endless racism across social media, Islamophobic headlines that we are exposed to daily, and the anti-Muslim policies pushed through by our government.

Each day that we see the normalisation of islamophobia growing, we are more and more at risk of facing such attacks. We must stand up, organise against this dangerous climate of hate and refuse to accept the dehumanisation of Muslims, collectively proclaiming...

·We will not be your scapegoats.
·We will not be your punching bags.
·We will not be your far-right re-election campaign.
·We are not your excuse to spy, surveillance and curtail civil liberties.

Aims of the Campaign

*For my father’s killing to be officially recognised as an act of terrorism. Pavlo Lapshyn who murdered my father was charged under section 2 of the Explosive Substances Act 1883 and section 5 (1) of the Terrorism Act 2006.

*For the formal and legal adoption of the definition of Islamophobia in the UK. The government continues to reject the Islamophobia definition put forward by several political parties. How can we tackle the rise of Islamophobia without a definition of what it is?

It is imperative we challenge the UK government throughout this important month which marks the anniversary of the brutal Islamophobic killing of Mohammed Saleem and the three mosque bombings.
