Advancing Native Students in Aging Research

The deadline for this years Advancing Native Students in Aging Research has been extended to Sunday, June 30, 2024. As a reminder this course is intended for any Native student interested in the health field and not for just for those interested in aging research. Additionally, letters of recommendation may come from community members and are not required to come from faculty of universities.

Andrew is a citizen of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe and doing incredible things in his community.

Scholarships are now open! Now, only one application needs to be filled out to see if you qualify for any scholarships through Native Forward Scholars Fund.

We are thrilled to introduce our second Advancing Native Student in Aging Research Spotlight student, Jana Stewart.

Jana is a citizen of the Dine (Navajo) Nation and a Junior at Diné College!

It is a pleasure to introduce our first Advancing Native Student in Aging Research Spotlight student, Desirae Barragan. Desirae is a citizen of the Gabrieleno Band of Mission Indians of Southern California and a senior at UCLA.

As we conclude our week with an incredible meal at Owamni - By The Sioux Chef, we want to thank our brilliant scholars for their participation this week! We also want to recognize the communities from which our scholars are coming from, these scholars represented their Tribal Nations with pride and beauty.

We are currently in day three of our week long program and our scholars are staying busy with DNA extractions on mice samples!
