Why Are We Silent About Kindness? Join Our Monthly World Kindness Meeting 💖

We're thrilled to invite you to our upcoming World Kindness Monthly Meeting, where we'll explore the crucial role of mental wellness and the transformative power of kindness in building a stronger, more compassionate global community. Why is the world so quiet about kindness? It's time we speak up and take action together.

As a member of the World Kindness Movement, you gain access to valuable resources, connect with like-minded individuals, and contribute to our global mission of kindness and mental health advocacy.

This month, we have a special guest speaker who will share insights on creating kinder communities. Our General Secretary, Dr. Tristaca McCray, will introduce "The Kinder City" project—a groundbreaking initiative she developed with in partnership with the World Kindness Movement. This project aims to establish communities where kindness is the cornerstone of interactions and mental wellness is prioritized.

The meeting will take place on Saturday, August 31st, at 7:30 AM (PST) on Google Meet. We'll also discuss our upcoming conferences in September and October, and how you can get involved as a partner in our movement.

Epic Kindness in action! Frank Stainton donated a kidney to his friend, with Linda M DeChaine by his side. Therapy dogs and angels for support. Robert drove me thru the driving rain to be there and Linda gave us a gift of a stunning waterCOLOR that she painted!

“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.” – Roy T. Bennett

Worry takes us out of the present moment; it hijacks our energy instead of directing it into areas that bring more peace and expansion. But, what if every day was an opportunity to evolve?

Invest your energy into something that contributes to your growth. Focus your attention on the present with mindfulness. With regular practice, mindfulness can help change your pull/addiction to future worries to a stronger association and appreciation of the present moment—as well as help calm your mind, ease stress, and boost your overall mood.

Say YES if you are choosing to focus your energy on creating something better…

Did you know that jazz legend Louis Armstrong wore a Jewish Star necklace for most of his life? Armstrong was born in New Orleans on August 4, 1901. For the most part he was raised by his grandmother but was also cared for by his Lithuanian Jewish neighbors, the Karnofsky family. He started off as a delivery boy for the family and was soon given meals, a place to sleep and even included at their Shabbat table. The jazzman would later write in his memoir that the Karnofskys treated him as though he were their own child. Mrs. Karnofsky used to sing Yiddish and Russian lullabies for him at night before bed. Later Mr. Karnofsky gave Louis money to buy his first instrument, a $5 cornet. “When I reached the age of Eleven, I began to realize it was the Jewish family who instilled in me Singing from the heart,” Armstrong recalled. “They encourage me to carry on.” Fluent in Yiddish, Armstrong wore a Star of David until the end of his life in memory of this family who helped raise him. On Sunday, August 6th deputies on afternoon shift stopped at 38th St. at Whipple Ave N.W to check on Shavon Newman who appeared to be working on an old rusted bicycle.

Shavon explained to deputies that his bike was his method of transportation to and from work every day. He lives on Fawcett Ave N.W and he works at a restaurant in Jackson Twp.

Unfortunately, his bike could not be repaired due to the age and rust on the bike. Deputies gave him a ride home so he wouldn’t have to walk all the way with his broken bike.

Afternoon shift deputies were told the story of young Shavon Newman and it touched their hearts. Today deputies White and Miller along with Sgt Cook went to Shavon Newman’s residence to present him with a brand new bicycle.

Seeing the excitement in Shavon’s face as he tried out his new bike proved to us all that if anyone was deserving of this small token of kindness he was truly the one. Keep up the good work Shavon your brothers and sisters at the Sheriff’s office have your back.
