The 513th Electronic Warfare Squadron (513 EWS) held its Change of Command on Friday, 3 June. This event marks a special point in history for the squadron as the first Change of Command between U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force commanders. The outgoing commander, CDR Chris “Carbomb” Tabert passed the squadron guidon to Lt Col Darren “Decoy” Woodside in a ceremony at the Air Force Armament Museum. CDR Tabert has led the 513 EWS since 2020, taking over at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was the squadron’s first-ever Navy commander. Following the Change of Command, CDR Tabert will be retiring from active duty. Lt Col Woodside was previously the Deputy Commander of the 513 EWS. Prior to his current assignment, he was Chief, Test and Training Branch, F-35 Integration Office, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Virginia. The 513 EWS’s mission is to deliver combat-credible mission data to the F-35 Warfighter. The 513 EWS is a multi-service squadron composed of approximately 185 Marine, Navy, and Air Force military, contractors, and civilians who manage the F-35 U.S. Reprogramming Laboratory.
