Our picking season has ended.

So much appreciation to all the many who made it out to the farm to pick strawberries, Blueberries and blackberries. If you did make it out to the farm please leave us a review.

We have also added hundreds of followers to our page this season. Please continue to share our project with your friends.

We remain committed to providing no spray fruit to the community along with heirloom quality fruit trees and shrubs. We will re-open the farm in September with several varieties of apple trees and fruiting shrubs and hope to see you all in the fall.

We had a great start to this on Saturday but several have reached out to me saying they stayed away due to rain.

We have plenty of berries so let's get more kids out.

I started this farm to show my kids not only that a disability can be overcome but also so they have clean healthy food by taking a walk.

I'd like to see more kids benefit from this experience. This Saturday we will have our first KIDS PICK FREE day. Here is how it will work.

With an adult and a purchase of 1 gallon of u pick blackberries 2 kids will be able to pick a pint each of their own for free.

Standard price is
$25/gal $4/pint we cover the tax. No admission fees, berries and plants have never been sprayed.

Blackberry cobler is on the menu!

We have several varieties of blackberries ripening now. The rain and really nice mix of weather is resulting in amazing flavor.

We will open Wed July 3rd at 8am closing at 1pm.

Blackberry kick off was awesome!

Once the rain passed it was a nice day for all who showed to get the first crack at this year's blackberry crop.

We will reopen on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm. Don't let light rain scare you away. Summer rains pass quickly and make picking very pleasant.

We will open Wednesday morning 8am to 1 pm for both blackberry and blueberry you pick.

Father's Day Delight!

My wife and kids picked berries for me this morning and were able to treat me to some of the first blackberries of the season.

We are only about 7 to 10 days out from being able to open these to the public. It's that exciting time of year where many things are available at the same time and the year round work shows up in the kitchen.

Thank you to all for supporting the farm. I know I'll get to see many of you very soon.

Blueberry and Strawberry u pick open Wed June 5th

We will open at 8 am and close at 1pm for u pick.

This will be the first picking on Blueberries. They look and taste great! Price is $4/pint. These plants have never been sprayed with anything!

Yesterday we hosted the team from Springfield Community Gardens.

It was a fun afternoon sharing what we have learned about growing with nature instead of being dependent on chemicals.

Berries are ready to pick!

I cant see them but I can smell how much the recent sunshine has been impacting the farm.

We will open for you pick strawberries on Saturday at 10am. We will limit the number of people picking at a time to ensure everyone in the field can fill buckets.
Price is $25 per gallon. If you would like a smaller amount we will have pint containers for $4 each
We provide the containers. Tax included in the price. No field fees as other farms. The berries have never been sprayed in any way. Please do not eat berries in the field and be prepared to be outdoors. See you in the morning.

First ripe berries of the season!

Not quite ready to open for u pick. Depending on sunshine we are about 10 to 14 days away.

When we open for u pick our hours will change based on ripe berries. This may mean a Tuesday morning or Thursday evening. We are at the whims of nature.

Apples from Japan?

We have Apples in our collection from many time periods and from all over the world.

The Sansa apple is crisp, fine grained with an immensely sweet taste. It was bred from pollen collected in Japan and crossed with some of the best Apples in New Zealand.
The result was a fabulous all purpose apple that is used for fresh eating as well as cooking for those who truly have a sweet tooth and don't want to add all of the processed sugars commonly used in American pie recipes.
Pick yours up along with many other apple trees and berry plants this Sat from 10am to 3pm at the farm. See you soon.

Enterprise!

An exceptional dessert apple and one of only non heirloom varieties we grow.

Bred at Purdue University in the 80s, this apple has proven to dominate with disease resistance. No cedar apple rust, firelight or scab. Perfect for growing organically and considered an early variety with fresh fruit coming off of the tree in late summer.
If you would like fruit trees that never need sprayed we still have a nice selection of apple trees and the weather has been great for planting and establishing trees. We will be open Sat from 10am to 3pm. See you soon.

The Pomca Sweet Ark is totally thornless, sets 2 full sets of flowers 3 weeks apart ensuring a nice crop even with late frost. Plants available at the farm along with many other fruiting shrubs and apple trees. Open 10am to 3pm

Wildlife plantings!

Historically, homesteads had strategic plantings to promote a comprehensive year round food source. We have worked with conservationists, hunters and wildlife enthusiasts to start packages promoting this concept. A long time project starting with no til beds and specifically selected fruiting shrubs and trees grown from seed. Please follow along for future updates on this exciting new venture.
