Dr.Piero Corti Memorial Health Centre
Dr. Piero Corti Memorial Health Centre is a newly established private not for Profit health unit.
It is established to provide health care services to community in a most remote villages in Amuru district.
Good evening everyone. In Uganda it is month dedicated to Children. and this month there is integrated child heath days. We humbly request all parents to ensure their children are vaccinated.
During this Easter season, in the Christian tradition, when Jesus Christ was gloriously received in Jerusalem. The Lord's Supper reminds us of the life and work of Jesus, and it marks us as people of his new covenant.
A similar situation happened in biblical history when Israelite made cry to the Lord our God. And God also received listened to their cry. I have seen the humiliation of my people and heard their cry (Exodus 3:7)
On a similar gesture wishing to join our effort to help our people in need of health care services in remote villages .
The daily monitor News Paper on 31st March 2023, runs story " APAA LOCALS HOLD PROTESTS OVER CLOSED HEALTH CENTRE" demanding their rights to proper healthcare.
According Daily monitor article states
i) The district health department has been using VHTs to supply drugs to the community and make routine health outreaches, which stopped since June 2022.
ii) That resident of Apaa, are forced to travel to either Pabo Town Council, which is about 68km from Apaa Trading Centre, and spending about Shs30,000 in transport or Otwee Health Centre III, which is bout 50km costing at least Shs40,000.
ii) As a result of lack of government health facilities, 36 children died, and five women died while delivering from their homes.
The paper further states that according to the statistics from Village Health Team coordinator indicate that 20 women suffered miscarriages as a result of lack of medical assistance during their pregnancies, and 39 adults died between 2018 and 2023.
Based on above extracts from the daily monitor newspaper, DR PIERO CORTI MEMORIAL HEALTH CENTRE therefore deeply touched and puzzled how Expectant Mothers and children are undergoing misery in accessing health care services.
We join hands on 16 days of activism. In Uganda about 80% of families welfare are left at hands of women.
The Chair steering committee after chairing 5th National Community Health Financing Conference 2020.The conference organized by Save for Health Uganda.
About 62% of women they delivered outside health facilities without accessing qualified medical health workers, especially midwives. This situation is worst in rural remote communities where health units is inaccessible. We are calling upon the population to join hands with us to provide affordable and quality maternal and child health care services in remote communities in rural areas of Amuru district, as well Apaa, Lakang, Bans, Layima etc. You supporting hand will make us provide Antenatal care(ANC), provides immunization services, HIV testing and linkages for care.
The pandemic is ongoing when it is going away is unknown. Many health conditions among the remote communities has remained un attended too.
