While many are gearing up for July 4th celebrations, here at the farm we are gearing up for mid-summer calf working.
The babies are now around 400 lbs each and in their “teenage” phase. We often catch them in clusters, hiding from their moms and obviously up to no good 🧐
This week, each and every one of them will pass through the barn for their summer wellness checks to ensure that our animals are healthy and happy 🩺
We just updated our online store with a MAJOR RESTOCK, just in time for your Independence Day celebration!

Thanks to the Clinch Valley Soil and Water Conservation District team, we will be working on some pasture regeneration this year.
The no-till drill allows us to incorporate summer annuals into pastures without disturbing the soil. This builds soil health by reducing erosion and maintaining organic matter - protecting the environment and farm for the future.
LIMITED RESTOCK!
This restock includes an absolutely beautiful and hard to find Tri-Tip. Shop our website at https://www.sfpremiumbeef.com/

Farm dog life 🐶
It takes a lot of partnerships to make the farm successful. This morning, our friends over at Select Sires bred 85 of our cows to Saluda - a premium sire who passes down great maternal traits for the future of our herd and superior marbling for our direct beef customers.

I guess if beef production is “factory farming”, this is our assembly line 🤷🏻♀️🤣
We don’t just grow quality beef 😄🍄
We welcomed 3 new bulls to the farm today, thanks to a longtime business relationship and valued friendship with Kinsey’s Oak Front Farm in WV.
Welcoming our replacement heifers back from their “winter home”.
Although the last two days have been very cold, calving season is winding down and we are starting to think about the next, warmer “season” - hay!
We did some soil sampling in the hay fields on . These samples will be sent for testing so we can make smarter, data-driven decisions.
We were fortunate enough to sneak away from calving this week to go try Chef T’s Cheeseburger Royale made with our beef at Union 41 Bristol. Needless to say, it was delicious! 😋
Restaurant week is coming to an end with brunch in the morning, but be sure to follow her page for more events and specialty menu items. You won’t be disappointed and you will be supporting your local farmers!
Another happy customer, enjoying a premium steak dinner!

This morning, we were grateful for heated socks and good mama cows ❄️
This baby has chrome!
Things are picking up on the farm and we can start to see the personalities emerge. The “mom, I can run FAST” babies. The “mom told me to hide right here behind this rock” babies (which we spend way too much time searching for). The “mom, let’s see how fast I can get on your nerves” babies. The “it’s ok, mom. I stole some milk from someone else’s mom” babies 🤦🏻♀️
They are keeping us very busy - and we love every second of it ❤️
We are all thoroughly enjoying these warm, sunny days ☀️
This girl had chosen a sunny spot with a view!
The farm snowman is quite joyful to see the sun shining today!
And so are the heifers, who have produced 11 healthy calves so far.

Holiday + snow day = installing cow scratchers!
The girls are waiting in line for their turn to scratch on the shop broom 😁
The first baby of the season has arrived to a cold, white world! She is strong and healthy and her first-timer mama did an excellent job.
They are tucked away in the barn and going through their bonding rituals. If all goes as planned, she will live a long, happy life here on the farm ❤️
