The Quijotes of San Antonio, a nonprofit organization, comprised of a missionary team of medical professionals and humanitarians, needs your help! Our 2016 Mission trip is approaching and as the number of volunteers expands, so does our services to the humble people of Oaxaca, Mexico.
For the past 27 years, our volunteers have faithfully travelled to help patients of low financial resources, many who are indigenous of Zapotec, Mixe, Mixtec cultures. This year we are working hard to purchase an ultrasound machine to assist the Doctors in their diagnosis and treatments. This machine will be a great benefit in providing appropriate medical care that would have not been achievable due to cost. The medical/dental care ,as well as medication, and now sonograms are completely free to the 3,000 plus patients we see in one week. The humanitarians and medical personnel both donate their time as well as their resources for this endeavour .
The sonosite M-turbo machine, its components, and transportation cost $15000. With YOUR help we can reach our goal of collecting the money in one week! Yesterday, on May 10, 2016, undocumented students from Freedom University and student allies disrupted a public meeting by the Georgia Board of Regents in an act of civil disobedience against the Board’s restrictive policies against undocumented students!
Georgia is the only state in the country to ban students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) from admission to public universities, effectively ushering a modern era of educational segregation in the South.
The students announced a nationwide economic boycott of the state of Georgia at the conclusion of its hearing, saying:
"If the state of Georgia is hell-bent on supporting modern segregation, then we the people will refuse to support Georgia.
We call on all people of conscience in the United States and around the world to move their business, their concerts, their conventions, and their vacations out of this state: to divest in segregation and invest in education. BOYCOTT GEORGIA!"
Soon afterward, Georgia Capitol Police arrested seven students on charges of criminal trespassing, disruption of general assembly sessions, and obstructing law enforcement officers. They spent 12 hours in Fulton County Jail and were released on bond.

Nine undocumented students banned from public higher education in Georgia will be visiting colleges in the Northeast that welcome undocumented students - colleges such as Harvard, Yale, Smith, Hampshire, and Dartmouth. They will be interviewing as prospective students and giving lectures on the undocumented student movement in Georgia! For most students, this will be their first time leaving Georgia and their first time on a college campus. But a trip like this requires enormous resources.
Your donation will go a long way and multiply in its impact. Last year, investing $5,000 to bring six students on the tour yielded more than $600,000 in scholarships. This year, we anticipate that investing $7,000 on nine students will result in more than $800,000 in scholarships. Your support of this tour is crucial, not only in generating a 100-fold return on our investment, but in directly transforming the life trajectories of undocumented students in Georgia, a state that has set up legal barriers to ban them from public universities and keep them in the low-wage labor force.

NEED SIGNATURES: Claudette, an asylum seeker from Jamaica, and mother/grandmother to U.S. citizens who has lived here since 1973, won remand of her case at the Ninth Circuit. Alas, she is still detained, and has been detained by ICE for the past two years. We secured a bond redetermination hearing for her, which is on Wednesday.
