The mass graves in Ireland, some of my ancestors most likely lie buried around the Sligo area.
It is estimated that around one million people died from starvation, around one million left Ireland completely in search of a better life, many did not make it to their destination as they were too weak from the effects of malnutrition and disease, dying on board ‘coffin ships’ and lie at the bottom of the ocean.

The British Empire did this, it was intentional, they took all the food out of Ireland, leaving the Irish to starve.

The British Empire did the same thing to India, killing 165 million Indians.

So if you wonder why the British government is backing Israel, it’s what the British government has always done, it steals and it kills, and it supports USA and Israel to do the same.

🐦‍⬛ So I dressed as a crow (sort of) and took my rebellious dog, Lola to the Restore Nature Now March in London yesterday.

🌿 The UK is one of the most nature deprived countries in the world, and living in London surrounded by concrete and traffic, there are days when I get to the point of overwhelm. Thank God for the green spaces and the parks. But it’s more than just enjoying nature and reducing stress.

🌍 The Earth is our mother and she is very sick, she is being destroyed by Capitalist greed and it has to stop!
So much of the natural world is under threat, we are so close to climate tipping points and a mass extinction event will not be avoidable for much longer. We MUST act now!

It’s hard to hold on to hope, when every day, we bear witness to mass atrocities, I have lost count of the heart wrenching stories and photos of bodies coming though my phone, it’s hard to comprehend how humans can do that to each other. It’s hard to acknowledge myself as ‘English or British’ I just don’t indentify with the evil monsters that inhabit this toxic place.

But I won’t look away, other activists keep me going and form in me some semblance of hope for humanity.

But there are also days when it gets too heavy to hold and I need to process my rage and my grief…
Drawing helps. Here’s my latest drawing.

Connecting with my ancestors helps too, I tell myself I’m not really of this land, I have ancestry from 2 nomadic tribes - on my mother’s side there is Roma (Romany gypsy) and on my father’s side, an lucht siúil’ (the walking people, Irish travellers). Both tribes were displaced and I somehow ended up being born here. It helps to think of myself as a mixed race refugee. It helps me to say I’m not one of ‘them’.

Trudi Warner, a retired social worker, held up a sign outside a court, reminding jurors that they have a right to use their own conscience in reaching a verdict and for that she is being prosecuted for contempt of court at the Royal Courts of Justice.

I had the pleasure and privilige to be outside Parliament again today with these courageous and strong women on the 5th and final day of the hunger strike.

I’m doing this because I want a fairer world.
This would currently has enough resources to feed all. The ultra rich and powerful only became that way because they oppressed and stole from others.

Day 3 of Hunger Strike with - I had the privilige to stand with the other hunger striking mothers outside Parliament today, what a beautiful group of amazing human beings, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do this, some of the mothers were inside talking to politicians, I was with another group handing out leaflets, talking to people. Yes it was cold and wet and we have not eaten for 3 days but it’s nothing compared to what some people have no choice in enduring and it is an honour to stand in solidarity with all who suffer from lack of food, poverty or war or genocides - no child should ever go hungry. Food should never be weaponised.

Day 2 Hunger strike with
I’m hunger striking in solidarity with all who don’t have access to enough healthy and nutritious food, especially the mothers who struggle to feed their children and the elderly who chose between heating or eating.
1 in 4 mothers in the UK don’t eat so that their children can.
I am disgusted at the scenes from Gaza, Sudan and other places in the world where access to food is denied as a tactic of war - this is a war crime. Food should never be weaponised! Everyone deserves to eat enough healthy food, no one should be subjected to starvation or malnutrition.
