We are excited to be partnering with the UMD Police Department and Drug Enforcement Association to host their 20th Annual Prescription Drug Take Back Day! Stop by and drop off your unused and expired medications at the Pocomoke Building from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday to join our efforts in preventing substance misuse. See you then!

⭐️Benjamin Blankenship is a senior Criminology and Criminal Justice major and has assisted CORA’s research team throughout the semester.⭐️

Favorite CORA memory: “Creating educational modules for Wicomico County and coming up with scenarios to educate people about the process of undergoing opioid treatment while in prison; I also enjoyed the GBMs, which taught me a lot about the history of opioid addiction and how to administer Naloxone.” 📚📖

Post-graduation plans: “I’m planning on taking a little time off to work on some side projects and might visit my brother in Malaysia. I’m also doing everything I need to get set up for grad school.”

We are lucky to have you Benjamin!

Favorite CORA memory: “Getting trained on how to identify an opioid overdose and the steps to take to help someone experiencing an opioid overdose.” 🩺🚑

Post-graduation plans: “To study hard for my MCAT and get clinical experiences to get ready for medical school.”

Fun fact: Anne grew up on a farm in the agricultural reserve of Montgomery County.

⭐️AJ Jayan is a senior Neurobiology and Physiology major, minoring in French. She has been leading the Frederick County action team since our organization was founded last year.⭐️

Fun fact: AJ is also the captain of UMD Moksha, the Indian classical dance team.

While we only have one more post for this series, raising awareness does not stop there. We must continue to understand history versus erasing it.

Our friends at ROTA are holding a mental health first aid training. This awesome program trains participants in recognizing the symptoms of common mental illnesses and substance use disorders and also initiating timely referrals to mental health and substance abuse resources available in the community.
