The Herd provides an exciting platform for students from diverse backgrounds to share their thoughts, perspectives, and emotions through art. I was excited to get involved with The Herd as I think it’s very important to empower student voices, especially during the turbulent times we’ve experienced recently. This is Freya - she is a member of The Herd’s Peer Review Team!
"My name is Freya (she/her) and I am a student at the University of Toronto currently in the second year of my linguistics major. I am very interested in learning languages and learning about other cultures. I also enjoy creative writing, including both prose and poetry. I love volunteering as a peer reviewer for the Herd Archive because it gives students a voice. The Herd is different from other publications because it compensates artists, gives thoughtful peer reviews on each piece, and really makes student artists feel appreciated and heard. My time at the Herd has been really rewarding so far and I enjoy reviewing submissions from all over Canada, especially submissions in the creative writing category."
We are excited to announce the launch of a new project aimed to support student creators! The Herd’s Giveaway Series will feature prizes from student-run creative businesses. This is our way of supporting local artists and creators looking to grow their business, while also offering our community the chance to win some really cool prizes!
