For those of you who wonder what goes on at the Cajun and zydeco festivals that I attend, this video recorded by Vince Fry gives a nice compilation of music and types of dance that occur. You may notice lots of gray hair, but just know we’ve all enjoyed this wonderful music for over 25 years. Enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/groups/256496200677200/permalink/333566779636808/?mibextid=W9rl1R

“It's come to our attention that scammers are trying to resell tickets that they never bought. We have a list of everyone who has purchased tickets, and only those verified tickets will be accepted at check-in. So, for your own protection, do not purchase resale tickets from anyone you (or your friends) don't know.”
Sorry, I couldn’t figure out how to post the original post, but I copied it from their page. Any questions get in touch with them.
My condolences go out to the Wentworth family. Chuck was an amazing supporter of music and the dance community.

From the organizers of Bayou Boogie Festival. Please read to the end.
From the moment we found out that Strawberry Park Cajun Zydeco Festival was canceled, we jumped into action. Strawberry Park was a beloved festival that people put on their calendars a year out. Steve Riley immediately contacted the bands that Wendy Lemlin had lined up for Strawberry Park, and he managed to get us a killer lineup. Next....where do we hold it? This was not as easy a process as it was already late in the game to find an available venue, and time was of the essence. Steve had played at Chateau Le' Gari' winery a few years earlier and felt it seemed to fit the bill. Gary Crump, the winery’s owner was onboard with the idea. Whew! another piece of the puzzle fell into place.
We were all so blessed to have been able to attend Strawberry Park C/Z Festival for so many years and to take advantage of everything they had on site that made it such a wonderful event. But, please understand..... this is not Strawberry Park 2.0. This is Bayou Boogie.
We've read and listened to all the comments (and the occasional complaints) and we've tried to address them. Lodging seems to be the number one issue. And we understand that we all had it so good at SP. We understand that the lodging options for Bayou Boogie are not what many of you want. We know it's taking much more effort on your parts to secure lodging. We tried to make it a tad easier by supplying a list of campgrounds nearby and creating a page so that you all might be able to coordinate and stay with your usual group of friends. We have since found out that tent camping is a struggle to find. That being said, Grandview Campground---10 miles away---has tent sites. We're hearing that driving even that short distance will be a hardship for some of you. We're sorry about that and we'll try to fix it for next year. Initially, we thought we would be able to rent the 4-H camp 1 mile away. It has cabins and showers and tent sites and everything you all want. And we had plans for a shuttle. But, we were too late for this year. It was already booked for that weekend. But....next year?
We know you all want Bayou Boogie to be exactly like Strawberry Park. It can't be. But on some levels it is, and on some level, possibly better because it is being produced BY our community FOR our community. Have you seen the lineup? There will be a large covered wooden dance floor. There will be food from 3 different great food trucks including Chili Bros.
There is no pool. There is no hot tub. but......there is a river you can swim in to cool off. There's a large indoor air-conditioned space. There's wine and beer. There's space to spread out and sit with your friends, as well as for jams and general socializing. And, isn't that one of the reasons we all attend? To hang out with this great community that we are all a part of.
Financially, Strawberry Park was able to mitigate the costs of bringing all the bands from Louisiana and the other costs of producing the festival with the fees they charged for camp sites, and cabin and trailer rentals. We don’t have that financial safety net. Bayou Boogie is being almost entirely funded by ticket sales, and we’re pleased to say that at this point, we’re over half way there! The organizers--- Steve Riley, Wendy Lemlin, and Su Peck --- are doing this purely as a labor of love, without financial compensation, and are grateful to those who have agreed to volunteer during the festival as well.
We would love everybody to take a step back and take a deep breath and realize that change is not always negative. This will be a great time because we as a community have created it. We need your help. We need you to come. We need you to get your friends to come. We need you to purchase tickets if you haven’t already (ticket prices will increase at the gate, btw). And, if anyone is in a position to do so, we would love sponsors----who would like naming rights for the stage?
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have that we can answer. We hope to see all of you on the dance floor. Thank you for reading.
