Self producing is not for the faint of heart, but when it comes with the gift of working with people like and and the inspiration of collaborating with playwrights like -and the joy of sharing a stage with somebody you love, it makes it all worthwhile.
None of this is possible by ourselves, without this team, without volunteers, without audience members saying this is good -keep going… It would’ve been much harder.

Thank you all that shared a life with us, a sigh with us, a beer with us, and encouraged us to keep going! We will take a deep breath, and and find something new to bring you all soon!

OPENING NIGHT REVIEW OF KAT SANDLER’S SCRIPT TEASE PROJECT

I just watched the Kat Sandler Script Tease Project LIVE STREAM.

Even before the show begins, the live stream footage is of an extremely high quality. I can see and hear Naomi Snieckus and Matt Baram as if I were sitting in the front row. And even better, I can see and hear the audience — a vantage point I can only get with live stream. There are several angles of the stage that make the Live Stream experience a VIP event. While I do miss participating in the pre-show discussion, it’s such a pleasure to have Matt and Naomi perform at 4:00 AM in the privacy of my home.
(Usually when I offer improv suggestions to Matt and Naomi at 4:00AM, they get really upset. This is a pleasant change.)

Matt and Naomi are always charming as they enter a lively discussion with the audience, looking for ideas to infuse a freshness to their improvised Script Tease story.

Audience suggestions:
Local pizza place (Cora’s) closed
People never pick up their dog poo
Real estate companies trying to buy up properties.
First dates.
Short films.

It cannot be overstated: Matt and Naomi know only minimal information about the 2 pages.

All that Matt and Naomi know in advance:
Play Title: Kenny.
Characters: Moisha (Matt) and Kayla (Naomi).
Setting: Hospital waiting room.

Matt and Naomi read the first 2 pages of a never produced play, written by Kat Sandler.

Rather than give a detailed plot synopsis of Kat’s 2 pages, or the rest of the evening’s performance, check out the live stream and experience the magic first-hand!

As we begin, Matt and Naomi jump into world of the play. And Kat Sandler has provided a perfect pair of pages. Personally, The first 5 minutes of any Script Tease are the most exciting. They’ve just read the 2 pages… now let’s see what they’re gonna do! They need to think fast! Thrilling stuff!

Matt and Naomi's ability to leap head-first into the world of Kat Sandler’s play is truly remarkable. This takes courage and skill and trust, which only comes from years of training and experience.

If you're watching on the live stream, it might feel like this whole evening was pre-planned. Rest assured, no one, especially Matt and Naomi, has any idea what will happen next. They are making this up on the spot, with the enormous contributions of Sound/Tech Improvisor-Wunderkind Seann Murray!

One of the benefits of watching the Script Tease live stream is that, if you find yourself in a laughing fit (and I suspect you will), you can pause the action, have a hearty laugh, then resume the show without missing a beat.

Lines that made me pause the live stream because I was laughing too hard include:
“It’s okay. Shrek can appear in a cup of coffee”
“Maybe it was Jesus Christ. Maybe I was chosen … but not in the ‘chosen’ way”
“I didn’t have a plan yet”
“I’m like Spider-Man — Hear Me Out!”
“Nobody wants Danny Glover!”

Watching the show, I’m reminded of just how talented Matt and Naomi are. They can run through a wide array of emotion: from heartbreak and hope to jealous and joy. They know how to create comedy gold out of a pork loin in one moment and explore a crisis of faith in the next moment. Matt and Naomi know how to create genuine drama and be vulnerable. They aren’t afraid to break hearts. They aren’t afraid to genuinely fall in love. Watching from the comfort of my home, I could feel their emotions reach out from the screen and touch my heart. Matt and Naomi are outrageously gifted actors.

If you've ever watched a magician on television, you may have heard the phrase: "what you're about to see is exactly what you'd see if you were here in our live audience". The same thing can be said about the Script Tease Project Live Stream.

Which makes sense.
After all…
Matt Baram, Naomi Snieckus, and the Script Tease Project are pure magic.

Rating: Five Nuns out of a Possible Five.
