Happy Black History Month ♥️! This year we decided to highlight the contributions of Black people in science. To kick things off, we thought it was necessary to highlight one of the people whose contributions has facilitated lots of scientific research. The story of Henrietta Lacks reminds us of the importance of ethical science and the importance of honouring Black people in science and medicine.

Swipe through to read about her story and how her cells have contributed to many medical breakthroughs.

If you want to learn more about Henrietta Lacks, we encourage you to read “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot.
