Rob Harper’s Guitar Auction Rob’s family have kindly gifted…guitar to raise funds for Birmingham Clarion Singers.
In June 2023, we lost our great friend Rob Harper. He was a well-known and much-loved figure on the left, and has
entrusted an enviable legacy to the many groups, bands and organisations he
worked with throughout his life.
Rob’s family have kindly gifted Rob’s beloved Musima acoustic guitar to raise funds for
Birmingham Clarion Singers. It accompanied
him on many a demo.
We want to give Rob’s friends the opportunity to bid for Rob’s guitar through a Sealed Bid Auction. If you are interested, you can email your bid to [email protected]. We will not accept any bids lower than £75, and all bids must be emailed by 10am on Friday 15th December. The highest bidder will win.
We will announce the winner on our website on Saturday 16th December, and arrange for collection of the guitar from Birmingham. The bid price
does not include the cost of postage and packaging, should this be necessary. Any questions? Email us at the address above.
Thank you

A glorious afternoon at All Saints, remembering our great friend Rob Harper.
Brum... can you help us out? 🩲🧦👖
We are running really low on clothing items for our male clients.
We're looking for jogging bottoms and socks in particular, as well as boxers (which must be brand new).
If you're able to help us out, give us a message or check out our online donation store: https://www.givetoday.co.uk/sifafireside/
Thank you. 🔥
A busy afternoon for the Clazzas helping to raise funds for Kings Heath Action for Refugees:
First at a wonderful KHAR festival in Highbury Hall -where the audience of all ages was a delight - and then at a lovely garden party hosted by Chris O'Malley, where we understand the donations to the cause were most generous. The pianist was fabulous, the food delicious, the prosecco very cold and the intermittent showers added an extra frisson of excitement.
Good job everybody 🎹🎼🎶🧀🥖🥗🍕🥂🍾£££ ✊🏽
A lovely day at the Women Chainmakers Festival in Cradley Heath.
Rob Harper – Socialist Musician 1944-2023 Robbie, I will miss you mate, how you led the basses, and tenors, with quiet authority. I could always know to get the right note when I listened to you. Your musicality always inspired me, and you…
Today's Morning Star:
A star has gone out in the Clarion family.
Robbie Harper passed away on Friday 2 June after a long illness.
He dedicated his life to music, and enabling others to play and enjoy music. He was a formidable trade unionist for the CWU, and an ambassador for political song.
We're gonna miss you Robbie. You done good. x

Does anyone who was at our 80th Anniversary celebration on October 8th have photos of the performances, including Tayo's, and would you share them with us please?
From today's Morning Star:
Tomorrow: our long-awaited anniversary celebration.
The venue details are at the bottom; click on the poster. 🚩✊️
... did we mention our forthcoming 80th anniversary celebration? Message us for further details
A depleted but determined nucleus of Clazzas joined the thousands in Victoria Square yesterday to voice our resistance to the government, the T*ries and the appalling fact that Birmingham has to have them here.
Amongst the Highlights:
•the inspiring speakers (too many to mention, but: Lynch for PM!)
•lending an extra thread of sound to the vuvuzelas, drums and chants with "Bring Out the Banners ", "Power in the Union", "Solidarity Forever "... and gaining some joiners-in on the way
•Getting within spitting distance of Jacob Rees Mogg but confining ourselves to booing. (Maybe that was more of a Lowlight...)
Solidarity with our sisters and brothers in RMT.
✊️
If anyone needs car transport to our October 8th concert, or can offer lifts, please message us.
At long last and well worth waiting for!
Another lively, hilarious and productive weekend at the beautiful Cranham Scout Centre, preparing for our October 8th 80th anniversary celebration, postponed from spring 2020.
Thank you, Ruth and Cal, always a part of the Clazza family # # #
Clarion's Tolpuddle visit. A really uplifting and inspiring experience.
Thanks to UNITE for inviting us!
We think this event just might feature again in the Clazza calendar...
