👏🏽Honored to share a new endorsement from Amy Lee, the Founder of Dear Community.

Amy's record of advocacy and action in Chinatown is inspiring and it means so much to have her support in District 3!

“Danny has been a strong ally of our community, from supporting seniors in Chinatown to speaking out against Asian Hate. Danny will work for solutions, from more Cantonese-speaking police officers on the streets to fixing bureaucracy that hurts immigrant-owned businesses.”

Meet my neighbor and friend, Angela.

When she heard that APEC was coming, she wanted to make sure North Beach was united in welcoming the world to our neighborhood.

She took matters into her own hands and designed and printed posters herself.

She's gone door to door this week hanging the posters. Business owners donated a few dollars to cover the printing costs.

These now hang at 50+ businesses around the neighborhood.

It's a small gesture but shows the best of our city and our civic pride. Go Angela 👏

We just celebrated the 6th anniversary of the North Beach Farmers Market! 🍅

Staring the market has meant lots of early mornings and hard work, but most of all, joy!

There's nothing better than having a community space for neighbors to gather every week. To many more years! 🥦

I'm honored to share a major campaign update: Senator Scott Wiener has endorsed our campaign for District 3 Supervisor!

“Danny is exactly the type of leader who we need right now on our Board of Supervisors. He has a long track record of showing up and fighting the hard fights on critical issues like housing and transit.”
— Senator Scott Wiener

We all know Senator Scott Wiener as a steadfast champion on issues that matter to our city, from housing and transit to climate change and LGBTQ rights.

I still remember knocking on doors for Senator Wiener's campaign some eight years ago. Beyond his incredible legislative record of delivering results for our city, he's taught me the importance of hard work and speaking to every voter.

That's exactly our plan for the year ahead: reach every voter in District 3 with our message of safer neighborhoods, a revitalized downtown, and a City Hall that finally works.

06/11/2023

Our election is exactly *365 days* away.

There's so much on the line: safer neighborhoods, abundant and affordable housing, and a clean and vibrant downtown.

Can you donate now so we can have the resources to spread our message? ⤵️

Thank you Brooke Jenkins and San Francisco Police Department for your work and commitment to do more.

🖥️ Yesterday I joined community partners to announce our work to build a new Computer Lab in Chinatown! This will bring computers to hundreds of students and seniors in Chinatown, paired with instructors to assist in everything from homework help to booking doctors appointments to ESL instruction.

To close the digital divide for Chinatown students and seniors, we're partnering with Cameron House, Jersin Foundation, and 13 Fund.

➡️ To make this project possible, I need to ask for your help with a small donation: https://www.gofundme.com/f/chinatown-computer-lab

⚰️ A funeral for public transportation 🚍

20+ Muni lines cut.
No weekend or evening BART service.
Tens of thousands more cars congesting our streets.

This unthinkable scenario will be a reality unless the state steps in soon. There's just a few more days for Phil Ting and Gavin Newsom to act. Follow this link and make your voice heard in just a few minutes:

.we've got just a few days left to call this funeral off or we'll be mourning the loss of public transit for years to come 😱

Loved joining the Asian American Pacific Islander Celebration at TEL HI Neighborhood Center this week! Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center / TEL HI does incredible work to support and empower older adults living in the North Beach and Chinatown neighborhoods.

Happy that Neighborhood Centers Together - NCT was able to provide a grant to make this amazing event possible!

15/05/2023

It was wonderful to attend last week's "Taste of Tel Hi." This annual event benefits TEL HI Neighborhood Center, a vital resource in the North Beach and Chinatown communities.

I'm proud to work with TEL HI both as a neighbor and as part of our Neighborhood Centers Together - NCT network. Their 133 years of social services and community programming are at the heart of keeping our neighborhood thriving.

🚇 Read my new Op-Ed in Wind Newspaper: "Central Subway's slow start demands immediate fixing."

15 minute wait times for trains, broken escalators, and blank signs are no recipe for a great transit line. SFMTA cannot cut the ribbon and walk away from its promises.

Grateful to Wind Newspaper for letting me share this op-ed in their paper. Since this line has been a promise to Chinatown decades in the making, it was important for me to share in an English-Chinese bi-lingual newspaper.

🛒 Safeway recently announced it would be closing their 350 Bay St. location in North Beach/Fisherman's Wharf. This deeply impacts ~20k residents within 1/2 mile of the store left without an affordable grocery store. A weekly errand just got much more expensive and difficult.

Since the announcement, I've talked with dozens of concerned neighbors and with stakeholders around the area. I believe we have a real chance to bring in another affordable grocery store - namely Grocery Outlet - to serve the area. We need to show demand and interest to attract a new affordable grocery store (Grocery Outlet or others).

📝 Please sign the petition! Just launched, we're already at 500+ signatures but need many more. Thank you!

I enjoyed sitting down with KTSF for the weekly ‘Chinese Journal’ show. We had a wide-ranging conversation on how our neighborhoods can work together, public safety in Chinatown and North Beach, and so much more.

Anni Chung has hosted ‘Chinese Journal’ on KTSF (Channel 26) for decades. The weekly show has become a vital source of news for the Bay Area’s Cantonese speaking residents. It was an honor to join Anni, and to practice a bit of Cantonese as well!

Thanks to all our panelists and guests who joined for last week's "Future of Downtown" event that I hosted with San Francisco Eastern Neighborhoods Democratic Club.

We dug into the action needed for downtown to recover. With downtown responsible for ~75% of our city's GDP, we need all hands on deck in this effort.
