This Sunday December 19th we are having our annual Christmas/Holiday Ukulele meeting! Always a great time. Like I say, you've never heard Christmas songs until you've heard them on the Ukulele.... We will play from 3:30 to 5 pm at Legacy Senior Living Center located at 1020 S Scott Blvd, Iowa City. Go to the far east building and enter the east door of the building. If it's locked just wait a minute, someone will let you in. Bring your Uke and the Uke a Day book for starters. We also use our club book but folks will gladly let you share with them on that . Or just come and listen and sing along if that suits you better. Hope to see you there! Legacy will provide the food and drinks...

Ukester Brown (aka David Remiger) got his first 'ukulele when he was about twelve years old and while he learned a few chords at that time he started playing it more intentionally about 30 years later. While reading about how making music makes all the synapses in the brain active he decided it would be a good mental exercise to take part in and he dusted off his old uke and hasn't looked back. His YouTube channel has over 2100 subscribers and almost 300 videos with many of the videos having tutorials. He calls his website (ukesterbrown.com) "a collection of everything 'ukulele". The song sheets he creates focus on classic songs, but he tries to include introductions and verses that seem to have been lost. "I love sharing the ukulele and feel blessed to have been able to teach seminars at several uke festivals and clubs."
Hope to see you there! Bring a hot dish, friends, family and a Uke! Ukulele Work Shop

Hey Kids,
Want to have a good time and support a good cause simultaneously? We've got the event for you. You would be hard pressed to find a better listening venue in the Midwest than Uptown Bills right here in Iowa City. However, for reasons known only to their greedy little accountants, the big three of the music company biz, ASCAP, BMI and SESAC are singling out Bills to pay thousands of dollars in music performance royalties. We don't think it's right but until we find a way to stop it, this Sunday, March 26th, from 2 to 5, Uptown Bills will be alive with the sound of wonderful music to raise money to keep the wolves away from the door. Scheduled to perform are:
2:00- The Dynamite Duo, The Ukeladies, Susan Birrell and Nancy Romalov
3:00- Those lovable mop tops, Pennies on the Rail
4:00- Iowa City's favorite folk couple, Greg and Susan Dirks

It's going to be a great show so come on down, bring a friend or two and support a great cause. As Tom sez, Suggested Cover $5 to $10 but feel free to give more to support Live Music. Hope to see you there.

Hope to see everyone this Saturday Jan 21st at Uptown Bill's for our monthly Uke Club meeting! Bring your books, Ukes, (a few should bring music stands) but mostly just come with a friend and join in!

No previous experience necessary! We'll meet from 4 - 6 pm. Uptown Bills is located at 730 S Dubuque St in Iowa City. Hope to see you all there.

The night music after us is the local favorite Dave Moore. So, feel free to stick around for his event as well.
