For our first , we want to recognize Julia Mesawich for her dedication to the organization! Julia is one of the 2019-2020 Enrichment Coordinators and Executive Board members of GSP! She’s been volunteering at Berkeley Middle School beginning with Project Phoenix her freshman year and continuing with GSP through this semester! She is a Biology major with Chemistry minor and participates in Chem Club, works in an analytical environmental chemistry lab, and is a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority! Thank you, Julia, for all your work in GSP! We couldn’t do our work without passionate leadership like you!

Hey GSP Family!!! This weeks member of the week is Jake! He promotes team building by prompting discussion each week in the van with his fellow volunteers. He opens up to the other volunteers, encouraging them to do so as well, always asking what others did over the weekend.

Hey Family, Starting this week we will be doing Member of the Week! This will be a tradition until the end of the semester and for this week we will be giving to it Maddy. Maddy has been a dependable mentor and team member at JRES for both years she's spent at William & Mary so far! The week of Halloween, she took the initiative to prepare a coloring activity for all of the mentors and mentees in the fifth-grade mentoring program! We really appreciate dedication and service!

Hey GSP, I'm Mary the training coordinator!

I’m working for a nature camp at a lake where we take the kids hiking, kayaking, fishing, archery shooting, creeking, geocaching, swimming, *and* on a ropes course!! Every day is truly an adventure and we get to see a ton of wildlife along the way, like this friend I met at one of our trainings

Hey GSP members!! Summer is coming to a close but thankfully that means that we get to spend time with each other and meet the kids.

A few summer updates are that we hope you all re-apply, also you should spread the word around to your friends that you'd think would make a good match for GSP.

In the coming days we will be posting all of our new exec board and what they have been up to this summer.

Free popsicles outside of swem now until 12:30 to show our appreciation for all our tutors! Come for a popsicle or just to hang out!!

We had a mentoring dinner tonight at James River Elementary School! It’s always so great to see the kids outside of an academic context & learn more about them!

We had so much fun on our annual Big Trip!! This year we went to the Virginia Beach aquarium and got to see dolphins and sharks! Can’t wait for more Saturday programs next semester :)

Training tomorrow at 7pm in Morton 220!! Then following is an ice cream social at 8pm! Come out to both for a good time & some free ice cream :)

Reminder that tonight in Morton 220 from 7-8pm is an Issue Education session. This one revolves around education and technology and should be really informative! Hope to see everyone there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Our entire GSP family is excited for all that 2018 will bring. Board member Laini is especially excited for the Big Trip coming up this April where students will be heading to Charlottesville for a historical trip at Monticello and for a hike led by a W&M Rec Center campus instructor. it's travel and new experiences 🌎

When board member Jamiee first introduced herself to her first grade class, the class took it upon themselves to introduce themselves as well! One girl said " Hi my name is Alia and I'm the cutest girl in the class". , it's learning how to be as confident as first graders and trying to love yourself even half as much!

Casey, one of our other board members, tutored on Valentine's Day and helped his student write a poem for a girl who later that day became his girlfriend! Cute right!!?

Kinda. Next week when Casey was back, he helped write a break-up letter from the same boy to the same girl.... --> it's advising middle school love

You might know the phrase "ride or die" but did you know the youth has shortened it to ROD?

Ex. " she's my rod" or "I found my rod through GSP"

... ya, Chatham, one of our board members, didn't know this either till her students clued her in. because you learn new slang too!!

GSP is officially extending application deadlines till September 18th! Over a 100 people are signed up and ready, but we're waiting till Monday for you!!✌️
