This new bumper has been sitting in the garage for a moose age ( and that's a long time from what I hear). Finally...for Mother's day we put the damn thing on and Bob's your uncle! We got a new butt.
A prelude to what the rest of him would look like with a new paint job. Did someone say "Prelude"?
The day has finally arrived, when we had the doors fixed! Yes, they go up and they stay up! Not only that, but they are perfectly aligned so no more struggling to close.
We found the most awesome place that fixed the problem with absolutely no problem at all! Atomic Motors in Henderson is now our new home for the next phase. They specialize in repair, restoration, upholstery, fabrication, and everything this sh!tbox needs...and they even have a showroom sporting every imaginable classic car you would die for.
Rolling up in this crapmobile was embarrassing, seeing all the beautiful custom rods...but we were welcomed and treated like we belonged there amongst them! Everyone was courteous and complimented the moneypit, and one guy walked by and said it was a cool car! They seemed excited to have it there and looking forward to helping us finish it and reach our goal.
I wish this could have happened 15 years ago, but I'm confident I will die happy.
More blood money for for the sh$%box.
Haven't done much but dream...and save up some Benjamin's ... it's been too hot to take this sh$%box out anyway.
A/C works surprisingly great for his age, however this heat has been too much for even my 2013 Fit to cool off so expecting this old man to keep up is not fair.
Sorry for the lack of updates and no progress, but I am up for anyone wanting to throw some change my way so we can get this money pit to the IFO in December and show off our stuff.
With goals for 2023, this is how I'm saving money to finish my project. Helping the community and making some cash, donating plasma wearing my lucky hoodie and sneakers.
I call this doing my Civic Duty.
My son pointed this out to me the other day...now the other side of the rear bumper is taking a "break". Time to get the JBWeld out again. I don't kid when I say this old thing is held together by super glue.
The new bumper is in the trunk...
To avoid any more tire issues, we dropped the old man at Discount Tire and had the remaining tires checked and balanced. Everyone was laughing at my car!
This old guy will soon be getting the TLC he has been waiting for, and we will see who will be laughing.
Another valve stem repair...and you know there will be more on the horizon. Taking him in to check the remaining 2 tires, so we can take this thing out for some fun.
Airing up the tires, the valve stem broke. Removing the tire proved to be a challenge.
Funny but true...we learned in improv that the truth is funny. This car is fun to drive but funny as heck. Take a look.
How to fix a broken bumper...aside from buying a new one, which I did...here's the fix. Cut out 2 pieces of hard plastic and make a hole for the bolt. Glue both pieces, one on top and one on the bottom of the broken original hole, clamp and wait. Then reattach and Bob's your uncle!
Off to the shop. Again.
Don't know what's going on.
Will update as soon as I get the verdict.
Funds are running low to keep this up.
Damn you Honda! Damn you.
At the best shop in town.
Off to the shop again!
On the way to work, my son had to ditch him in a parking lot. He was sputtering and stalling.
We have decided that if this is going to be a major repair we need to rethink how much more money we really want to put into this thing.
To be fair, he doesn't get taken out much.
Maybe the thrill is gone. Maybe the money just isn't there any more. Maybe I'm too old to be into this thing.
Maybe it's time to let this unnatural obsession go?
But I love him so much. It breaks my heart.
You look awesome, even if it's all just for looks!
You did good!
I have made and worn many costumes in my lifetime, but have never made a costume for a car!
This past weekend I made my car into a time machine for a Santa fundraiser event for my non-profit ferret shelter. Santa arrived in the "Hondalorean" and it was a fun and fantastic event!
I am so proud of my little baby car, he performed like a champ, happily sporting boxes and soda bottles spray painted, hot glued tubes and ferret tunnels all over his butt and looking super awesome! Movie magic came to life this weekend!
Now to figure out how to get all this junk off of him and get back to the business of getting him put back together!
Incognito
First time in 22 years...he is GARAGED!
I think this would look better on Blewy's butt.
What in the Sam Hill did my kid just tie to my car's butt
Waiting in line for smog.
Why did we get a notice that it required smog? We are registered as a classic vehicle and drove less than 1,000 miles.
Our neighbor, who has a 4-door that he races, just recently purchased a '95 Civic and is working on it in their garage..they have a friend who owns a shop that works on....guess what? YOU GOT IT! We have all the parts and are going to get him ready for the next phase!
Interior put back together, new carpet, rear bumper, door hydraulics, engine splash guard, lug nuts replaced...did I forget anything? Oh yeah...PAINT JOB! Then we can shop around for a jammin' new stereo system.
So now this is happening...poor Blewy is losing his rear end. Not to worry! A new bumper is on it's way! In the meantime, my natural fix-it skills will give him a temporary butt- lift.
We never considered that since the car is so old, original parts would not only be hard to come by, but very expensive to replace...thus why thieves would target this baby. Passenger sideskirt was popped off, so we decided to go with Duraflex sideskirts that will be BOLTED on from the underneath, and not so easy to pop off. YEAH, try and take those off you buttheads.
We never had this problem 15 years ago.
Everything will have to be bolted on tight from now on. LESSON LEARNED!
All dash lights are out. SRS control module replaced...safe to drive.
What's next?
New rims.
Spending the day at Henderson Chevrolet.
THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE BRUH.
Say hello to my little friend...
Open wide, you beautiful hunk of old V-tech metal, you!
We still have the original floor mats for this baby.
25 years old!
We have 2 sets - one came from my 1986 CRX that had to be sacrificed for Blewy.
Next order of business...getting airbags checked. SRS light is on, so no long distance driving until we know its safe.
Asian Imports Auto has been the best in servicing this old beast. I am forever grateful for their expertise.
Upward and onward!
The work being done on my baby.
I covered the charges so you wouldn't think I was rich and ask me for money.
Or crazy.
