Cost Per Lead isn't a one-size-fits-all deal!

It could be anything from a mere buck 💵 to several hundred dollars for each lead. 😱

And, like the weather, it can change based on outside factors like the time of year or how much it costs to advertise.

Here’s the TRUTH: A cheap lead is not always a quality lead.

Sure, CPL is super important to keep an eye on and improve, but the real deal is how much 💰 your business can MAKE from each lead.

First things first – you gotta give your LCTR (Link Click-Through-Rate) and CR (Conversion Rate) some TLC to score the lowest possible CPL for your ads.

If your LCTR is over 1% and the Conversion Rate of people who click the link and turn into leads is on point (as in, meeting industry standards for the action you want), then you know your ads are crushing it. 🎯

Next up, it's EPL (Earnings Per Lead) time! 🕒 Calculate the magic number by dividing the total amount your business raked in during a specific period by the number of leads you got.

Here's the important part: A CPL is deemed a success when it's LOWER than the EPL.

Check out this example: If the CPL is $50 and the EPL is $500, your business is pocketing a profit of $450 per lead.

In that case, keep throwing money at those ads, no matter how your CPL stacks up against others or industry averages. 🚀💪

It's not about comparing yourself to others.

It's about what's right for YOUR business.

🥳 Here's some exciting news to share about our latest ad campaign for a new client (they’re launching a membership for women of faith in the B2C space).

Over 13 days, we put a total of $4,437.79 into Conversion ads to gather leads.

The outcome?

A whopping 5,029 leads for just $0.88 each! 🎉

Our Link Click-Through Rate was 1.45%, soaring above the gold standard of 1%!

And the cherry on top?

The conversion rate from link click to lead was an impressive 56%, nearly doubling the minimum metric of 30%. 🚀

But, there's more!

Those same amazing ads also led to 1,218 Post Saves and 321 Post Shares.

That's right, 321 times someone loved our ads so much they shared them with their friends.

(Talk about free advertising!) 📢

Remember, Post Shares are the number of times the ads were shared, either on people's own Timelines, in groups, on Pages, or even in Instagram inboxes.

(But take note, Meta only tracks the shares that happen while the ads are running, not the engagement they get after they're shared on another Page or person’s timeline.)

Not only did this client successfully grow their email list through an effective ad campaign, but they also saw a boost in their website traffic and social media interaction.

➡️ Now, they have an incredibly large pool of interested people to target in the future with ads for their paid offers.

There are FIVE main types of custom audiences you NEED to build on the backend of Facebook Ads Manager.

➡️ Facebook engagement
➡️ Instagram engagement
➡️ Your email list
➡️ Website visitors
➡️ Video views

Once you build these five audiences to over 1,000 people, you can create 'lookalike' audiences from them.

Facebook will find more people who look like the audience you've grown. That means more people who are more likely to engage with you since they are already similar to your warm audiences.

By increasing these custom audiences, the Facebook machine continues to find more of the right people on autopilot, which is what we want . . . to feed the machine so we get better results over time.

It just became a LOT harder to target ads to people of faith.

Here's what you need to know and WHY it may have a huge impact on your advertising results.

Starting January 19, 2022, Facebook started removing detailed targeting options that relate to topics people may perceive as sensitive. Options that reference causes, organizations, or public figures that relate to health, race or ethnicity, political affiliation, religion, or sexual orientation.

This means for a lot of my clients and myself, we can no longer target people who are interested in Christianity or anything faith-based.

This is a huge change.

We are all still figuring out the extent of the impact it will have and how to overcome this new challenge.

And it means you'll have to rely more on your graphics, video content, ad copy, and especially the hooks to catch the attention of your ideal clients.

These have always been important, but they’re even MORE important now that ads are being shown to broader audiences.

This falls to the creatives on your team to help show your ideal client that this ad was made with them in mind.

Facebook is officially “Meta,” which means Facebook Pixel is now “Meta Pixel.”

They will be using this name exclusively from now on, and officially announced recently, “Moving forward, all partners should update any references to Meta Pixel in their interfaces, collateral, help center, content, documentation, etc. as soon as possible to align with the rebrand.
We also plan to make related changes in our product documentation by this date to reflect this major change.”

Life comes at you fast.

I know for a lot of you, you might be feeling some concern, maybe even some worry, over the changes in ad targeting that's been made recently.

I'll be sharing more about it this week, but I first and foremost wanted to remind you that God is still on the throne.

Maybe you set out on this path and felt like it was a calling. Owning your own business can feel scary and uncertain at times. Not knowing how you will reach the people that need to hear your message can seem like a hurdle you can't get over.

We still have this hope we can cling to. Jesus never changes. His plan never changes ‒ it's perfect. If He called you to this business, if He planted this passion in you, this purpose...He will make a way.

No algorithm, no AI, no tech, and no social media platform can keep you from your purpose when you lean on the Savior. He is the same as He was yesterday and always will be.

Lean into that firm foundation and just watch what happens.

There is no failure. We win or we learn. But we're not going to fail.

There are things that I've done that didn't go the way I hoped it would. But I definitely learned from it, and God did a work in me.

And you know what? I have the confidence now to go and try it again or do something different.

The mindset with which we should approach life + business is not about failure but about what you're going to learn from it.

I would say that perfection and fear are the biggest roadblocks that I see most often. Not only in myself, but in other people, friends that I have who are entrepreneurs as well.

I am what people call a "recovering perfectionist.” (I’m a work in progress.)

I think it's important to remember that it doesn't have to be perfect. Take messy action, Get out there and do it, even if it's not perfect.

That's part of the journey…overcoming the fear of failure and leaning into the work God is trying to accomplish in us.

✋How to Stop the Scroll With Videos. ✋

I've already mentioned the importance of starting with a great HOOK, but these few tips will help get more people's eyes on your video ads as well.

👀BRIGHT COLORS - We see muted colors everywhere. Even if it's not in your "branding," bright, eye-catching colors help you stand out from the feed.
👀MOVEMENT - Any kind of movement catches the eye. You could wave, walk + talk, or even jump into frame as you start talking to catch people's attention.
👀SUBTITLES - Optimize your videos for sound-off viewing. A majority of people have their sound off when scrolling, but more importantly, this makes your video accessible to those in your audience with impairments. There are some great apps that do this like Clipscribe and Headliner.

Consider this: What makes YOU stop scrolling?

Analyze the things that get you to like, comment, or at the very least view a reel or story in its entirety. Those same elements will work for your views as well!

When it came time to choose a logo for my business several years ago, I immediately thought of a palm tree.

You'll see it in my graphics, on my website, sprinkled around here and there. Palm trees have a special place in my heart.

I grew up between Galveston and Houston where they were everywhere. There are not as many here in the North Texas area since we're away from the water. But they remind me of home and our vacations to Maui and the Caribbean. Plus, any reminders of traveling make my heart smile.

Not only that, but palm trees are a symbol of peace, eternal life, paradise, and victory. In the Classical era, they were used to symbolize victory much like the laurel was. It was also a metaphor for a righteous man.

Psalm 92:12- "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree..."

When I was creating Delightful Ads + all the delightful parts of it, I considered all the things that I took delight in.

I've already talked about my BIG three (Jesus, my husband, and my boys), but there are other things in my life as well that truly delights me.

🌴 Healthy Living - Fun fact: I used to be a personal trainer. I love working out…specifically weightlifting! You’ll most likely find me in the free-weights section lost in a podcast, and only on a cardio machine when I have to.

🌴 Mornings - My favorite part of the day is mornings spent either sitting in bed (when it’s cold outside) or in my backyard (on warm mornings) with my journal, Bible, and pen in hand, coffee on the side table, and my two dogs snuggling close by.

🌴 Traveling - There’s nothing like making memories with loved ones, and my favorite adventures are those traveling to new places. It doesn’t matter where, as long as it’s intentional time breaking away from the norm and experiencing someplace new.

🌴 Learning – I love learning and figuring out how to do something new. I believe in having a positive attitude and a “figure-out-ability mentality.”

🌴 Minimalism(ish) - While no one would walk in our home and say we live like minimalists, my husband and I don’t do clutter. I enjoy organizing anything (I say it's my spiritual gift!) and find that minimizing clutter maximizes my peace of mind and my ability to focus on more important things.

When it comes to advertising, a LOT of factors come into play.

Before you determine how much your business should invest or even how much your ideal range would be, here are some things to consider:
➡️ Niche: How expensive is it to convert your customers from cold traffic to hot buyers in your specific niche?

➡️ Quarter: Obviously at different times of the year, advertising will cost more. Quarter four (with Black Friday, Christmas, New Year's Day sales) is always more expensive. But ad costs typically decrease in quarter one.

➡️ Target Audience: For example, if you have an interest based audience or it's highly competitive, it’s typically more expensive.

Bottom line: If those parameters are YOUR people, if that's what reaches your ideal customer, then it's worth gathering that data, testing, and learning how to best be visible in their space.

Paul reminds Timothy here that his focus is eternity, NOT the here and now.

For business owners (and anyone in pursuit of a happy life), faith is key. We must always remember that the whole goal of our lives, of what Paul is telling Timothy he was called to, is to spread the good news of the gospel.

That is the good fight.

Let’s tell others about what God has done for us. That He died on the cross, paid our debt, and forgave our sins so we could "take hold of the eternal life.”

We should always be about the Father's business – not just focused on our own!
