Some people come into our lives and make an imprint on our hearts and souls in a way that far surpasses what we can comprehend.

Former Lt. Governor Margaret Farrow was that person for me.

To say Margaret was a political mentor barely captures the extent to which this extraordinary woman made a difference in my life. Margaret was a force to be reckoned with. She had an indomitable spirit and drive that inspired me as a young public servant and guided me to heights I never believed imaginable.

Margaret forged a path for women to lead in a work environment dominated by men. She was fearless and unfazed by the imbalance. And as a result, her male colleagues quietly respected her… and perhaps even feared her at times!

Margaret was passionate about conservative principles and tirelessly worked on behalf of her constituents to improve their lives by enacting policies based on those principles. When the going got tough, she didn’t waver from doing the right thing.

She was truly the epitome of an Iron Lady.

I will miss you, Margaret. Your family will miss you. Our state will miss you.

May your memory be eternal.

Said goodbye to a dear friend today. Rep. Dan Lemahieu and I were elected in the same year. We were part of a freshman class of GOP lawmakers who stormed the Capitol with our conservative principles. Dan exemplified Jesus’ model of servant leadership. What a blessing to serve with this amazing man. My heart goes out to his family who grieves today but, at the same time, knows they will be reunited with him in God’s Kingdom one day.

Keep fighting the good fight and keep those babies’ hearts beating! 💕
