Be intentional in your dealing towards this forthcoming graduation party bearing in mind that your actions/decision during this time has a way of making you lose students, pupils or even teachers.

By the time you will be reading this, l know that preparations are in top gear already concerning the forthcoming Prize-Giving and End-of-session Party in your school.

Take your time to read this to the end and pick one or two hints from this eye-opening content.

1. The Gifts You Are Giving Out Must Be Learner Centred( this depends on the type of parents you have)

It must be a gift that will be useful for the students. Gifts such as School Bag, Textbooks, reading lamp and host of other reasonable gifts.

Any gift you are giving to your pupils and Students should be something they will use often and people can see the name of your school boldly written on it.
The cooking pot you gave them will remain in the kitchen where no one else can see it.

2. Let All Your Presentations Vividly Portray And Showcase Your School.

Here, your Teachers and other Professionals involved have a lot to do. ALL your presentations should portray the good image of your school.

Any Presentation that is not in line with the core values of your school should be instantly discouraged and replaced with another one.
Any Presentation that will ridicule or demean your school should not even see the light of the Day.

Teachers are to make sure that all the songs, moves, recitations and dramas are well perfected before the D-Day.

3. Let The Gifts Measure up With The Amount Collected.

Most schools have simply recorded failure in this aspect and that is why till date, their Graduation Party has remained a shadow of itself.
Parents will hardly pay for the party because they always FEEL CHEATED.

Let me put it to you that as a school, the Graduation party is never an avenue to make "Undue Profit".
Please, be reminded that the End-of-session Party is meant to showcase your school to the outside world; majorly for ADVERTISEMENT PURPOSE.

For instance, when you collect a sum of #15,000 for the Graduation party, do well to give out GIFTS worth 40--50 % of the Fee collected.
That is to say, from #15,000, give them gifts that worth 6 or 7 thousand naira.

This is the only way you can be free!
From experience, this has brought a lot of fracas and chaos right at the Graduation venue.
Parents will be up in arms once they feel Cheated.

4. Treat Parents And Other Guests Well.
Without mincing words, some schools are guilty of this!
They don't believe in warm reception and welcome of their parents.

Please note that when parents are coming, they are bound to bring friends and family members along.
Therefore, as a school, don't assume that they have come to devour all that you cook. As a matter of fact I urge you to encourage your parents to bring their friends along .

See every visitor or extra guest as a PROSPECTIVE PARENT who will eventually be convinced to register his or her wards in your school.
When it is time to share food and drinks, don't look at faces.

Food and drinks should be for ALL.
As much as possible, try to satisfy them.

5. Use competent Hands and Best of Materials.
If possible, secure the service of a competent Master of Ceremonies (MC) and Disc Jockeys (DJ) to enliven the atmosphere because it is actually a Day for ALL.

Make sure the sound systems are perfectly in order before the commencement of the programmme.
It can be so embarrassing and highly irritating to have a malfunctional microphone on a Day like this.

It sends a wrong signal to your parents who are sitted and other guests of honour that you have attracted. Let the venue be orderly arranged and beautifully decorated.

6. Keep your environment clean on that Day.
Let Parents and other guests of honour see and meet some orderliness in your school.
The school premises should not be an eye sore all in the name of Party.
Whatever can cause injury should be kept out of way.
Not only should your environment be neat, it should be safe as well.

7. Be security conscious:
ALL the classrooms and offices are to be locked when nobody is there otherwise, get ready to count your loss when the Party is over.
Have it in mind that not everyone who comes into the school compound on a Day like this have good intentions.

There may be need for you to employ the service of local security operatives all in a bid to ensuring that lives and property are in safe hands.

8. Take Good Advantage of the Gathering:
It is usually on a Day like this that you give relevant information and announcement to the general public.
Let them know when Summer Classes will start.

9. Get ALL the gifts ready:
Except those who are not around, never ask any Pupils or Students to come back for their gifts.
All gift items are to be made available at the venue. Also, attend to those who Paid for the Party earlier before Attending to those who paid at the last minute.

10. Above all, always be TIME CONSCIOUS as a School. Start the programme on time so that you can also round off on time so that both the parents and pupils can get home in good time.
