K9 Umber’s First Taste of Victory!

We’re excited to share that K9 Deputy Umber had her first big case last week during the ex*****on of search warrants in two separate child-related investigations in Collin County. Umber, alongside her crew from the Collin County Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) and Crimes Against Children (CAC), located numerous electronic devices, including some very small electronic memory devices, cleverly concealed—stuff that investigators would have had a difficult time finding on their own. Umber’s keen sense of smell led to the discovery of these devices, some of which were later found to contain child po*******hy. Her sharp nose and determination made all the difference in this ongoing investigation.

While we can’t dive into the details—because, well, we’re still investigating, our forensic team is hard at work, and because it involves children, and we don’t want to create any additional hardship by including specifics about the ongoing cases—what we can say is that Umber performed her job with total confidence. Not bad for our sweet-faced little rookie!

Maybe it’s the promise of treats after a job well done that drives her. And honestly, who wouldn’t be motivated by a little reward? I’m not saying it’d be a bad idea for our investigators to get a “great job, Deputy—here’s a taco!” 🌮 after a successful case, either. Just putting it out there… 😉

Did you know Miki’s favorite game was “Direct Action Assistance⁉️ Miki was equipped with a night vision camera system to be our go to “course of action” (COA) during assaults of target buildings and structures.

Navy SEAL MPC Miki recently received support from the Warrior Dog Foundation: Home with Handler Program. It’s a mission to honor and preserve the extraordinary bond between handlers and their K9 teammates. It establishes a secure “home” environment for retired K9 heroes, facilitating a smooth transition for both dog and handler.
