Season Greetings Everybody !
Hand painted Holly Berry on porcelain .
The Holly tree is one of the most beloved, respected trees in Celtic mythology and is the evergreen twin of the Oak. It is said that whilst the Oak was the controller of the light half of the year, the Holly tree controlled the dark, winter months. For centuries this magical tree has been represented by a Holly wreath which was worn as a crown by Celtic chieftains for good luck. Traditionally, it was used to protect newborn babies from harm by bathing them in the water from the leaves. Before holly was hung in houses to accompany Christmas trees, it was considered to be a sacred plant by the Druids. The Druids regarded holly as a symbol of fertility and eternal life, thought to have magical powers.
Today, Christians have adopted the holly tree as a symbol for Christmas. The sharp leaves are said to symbolize the crown of thorns worn by Christ, while the berries represent his blood. The evergreen quality of the tree is metaphoric for eternal life.

Happy Sunday !
Presented for your consideration this Exquisite antique painting on porcelain "Cupid and Psyche", after William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905). French artist signed. Gorgeous Limoges France 15" Tankard depicting Psyche and Cupid capturing his mortal love and ascending to the heavens. Rises in the arms of Cupid to the heavens where she will be made a Goddess. The painting is signed in the lower right. Large porcelain Tankard is expertly and beautifully painted. The figures look alive as they fly through the blue sky. Cupid is looking lovingly at Psyche as he embraces her close to him and flies her to the heavens. The quality of this painting on porcelain and the condition is magnificent.. This is an extraordinary example signed by the definitely super talented porcelain artist. This is certainly one of the most beautiful examples of Psyche and Cupid on porcelain.
In the love story of Eros (Cupid in Latin) and Psyche (meaning "soul" in Greek), we can see the perseverance of a man even when he is possessed by passion and the effort of a woman to overcome many obstacles in order to achieve the happiness of love.

Sending Thursday Greetings to You !
Have a truly beautiful day !
Fantastic Lilac on porcelain !
The story of lilac, according to Greek mythology, begins with a beautiful nymph named Syringa (lilac's botanical name). Captivated by her beauty, Pan, the god of the forests and fields, chased Syringa through the forest. Frightened by Pan's affections, Syringa escaped him by turning herself into an aromatic bush – the flower we now refer to as lilac.

The “jeweled” porcelain of the late 19th century attracts buyers with its beauty and unfamiliar beading. The late 19th century, a new type of porcelain vases, tea ware, boxes and other ornamental wares were created. It was hand decorated with small colored “beads” of glaze, as well as sections with simulated gems like moonstones turquoise or emeralds. These pieces were very expensive when compared to the useful wares made before that time.

Enjoy the start of your day with cup of hot chocolate, tea or coffee poured from this lovely hand painted Violet Chocolate Pot. Also signed by the talented artist.
Violets symbolize modesty. According to Greek mythology, violets were created when one of Artemis' nymphs, who had all sworn to stay maidens, was being pursued by her twin brother, Apollo. To protect her nymph, Artemis transformed her into a violet, which in turn led the violet to become a symbol of modesty.

Enjoy a Wonderful Day with a Cup of Hot Chocolate !
"Limoges Hand Painted Chocolate Pot Set"
In the late 1700s, the president of the Royal College of Physicians, Hans Sloane, brought from Jamaica a recipe for mixing chocolate with milk, which made the drink more palatable in his opinion. Well, others agreed and the English started adding milk to their chocolate; it was then enjoyed as an after-dinner beverage.
The first chocolate drink is believed to have been created by the Maya around 2,500–3,000 years ago, and a cocoa drink was an essential part of Aztec culture by 1400 AD, by which they referred to as xocōlātl.

Back to 17-19Th Century !
" Large Antique KPM Berlin Hand Painted Tureen,Ca 1847"
A little history:
The tureen as a piece of tableware called a pot à oille—a Catalan-Provençal soup— came into use in the later seventeenth-century France. Whether named to honour the French military hero Marshal Turenne or related to the earlier word terrine, a borrowing from the French for 'a large, circular, earthenware dish'.
A tureen is a serving dish for foods such as soups or stews, often shaped as a broad, deep, oval vessel with fixed handles and a low domed cover with a k**b or handle. Over the centuries, tureens have appeared in many different forms, some round, rectangular, or made into fanciful shapes such as animals or wildfowl. Tureens may be ceramic—either the glazed earthenware called faience or porcelain—or silver, and customarily they stand on an undertray or platter made en suite.

Greetings from "Everything Wonderful Boutique !
New rare arrival !
"CAC American Belleek Hand Painted Cherub Face Vase"
A little history of Ceramic Art Company:
American Belleek fine porcelain items made from the 1880s to the early 1930s at the Trenton factory were named for the little town of Belleek, Ireland, located in County Fermanagh where superior, light-weight, translucent porcelain with a pearly glaze had been produced since 1857.
This Belleek is a superior quality porcelain.!!
Later, when a number of Irish porcelain workers and traveling artisans came to America seeking work in factories here, they brought with them the skills and secrets used to produce Belleek porcelain. American Belleek immediately became preferred dinnerware and decorative items with popularity that lasted until the 1930s.
