Here's my latest commissioned art piece drawn from a 1952 photo of my client's Dad on his Harley Davidson motorcycle!!
-
This landed up being a very emotional piece for my client and seeing the joy on his face when I showed it to him was priceless for me ๐โค๏ธ
-
I used mixed medium of acrylic paints, Copics, watercolour, softcore wax colour pencils, gel pens, fine liners on a 16x20 grey board to make this art work. Some airbrushing and charcoal for shadows was used as well.
-
This drawing took me close to 30 hours over a period of three weeks. Capturing the details like they were in the photo was very important, so took a bit longer.
-
I will post the stages pictures and timelapse video in my next posts along with some "behind the scenes, making of" reels in the next couple of weeks.

There are many things to be thankful for this year. Amongst them is Elephantโs Makeoverโฆmy debut as a children's book illustrator ๐
I learned so much from so many people about illustrating a children's picture book. From doing character studies, developing sketches of the different characters, applying emotions based on the story, rendering the drawings on paper using mixed mediums, doing digital touchups, and putting it all together...
This journey has been a lot of fun!

Elephant wants to make friends but it's not easy. The other animals don't like the way she looks. Maybe if she changes...
It's a poignant story about bullying, forgiveness, self-esteem and friendship!

I drew this for my wife to express my everlasting love and gratitude for her. Thank you for being there no matter what! โฅ๏ธ
-
Took me almost 12 hours to complete. I used a new type of paper made of suede to do this drawing. Interesting thing about this paper it that itโs like drawing on velvet. It is not very forgiving and you cannot erase anything without leaving a horrible mark. I also did not apply a base layer with watercolour or copics like I typically do. Instead, I used Prismacolor premier pencils directly on the paper and highlighted using Stabilo fine liners, Gelly roll pens, Posca markers and Copic markers in the end. The size of this drawing is 12x15 inches.

Taj Mahal, a symbol of love, one of the new seven wonders of the world is an immense mausoleum of white marble.
It was built in Agra, India between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife.
The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art and architecture in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the worldโs heritage.

I have been meaning to draw the jungle hunter predator for a while now and finally got to it!! ๐ This one from the original 1987 movie โPredatorโ played by Kevin Peter Hall is one of my favourite alien movie characters of all time!
-
I drew this from an action figure that I have (watch my reel ๐). I tried various poses with it and finally liked this one where the Predator is in an โassess and strikeโ pose with his wrist blades and shoulder cannon ready to go!
-
I used Copic markers for base colours, Prismacolor premier pencils for main layers, charcoal powder for shadows, and Gelly roll pens and stabilo liners for highlights. The board I used is a Peterborough grey toned matte.

Time-lapse video of the 3D drawing of the Avocado ๐ฅ
-
Many of you have asked me about the shadows I did on this drawing and wanted to know how I do it. Iโll focus this post mostly on shadows. ๐ฅ
I do the shadows in a few different ways. It all depends on how much depth I need and how contrasting I want it to be to the light exposure of the object. In this drawing, I used a simple hand-held airbrush with some opaque photo black paint to do the shadows. I used a frisket film to cover my drawing outline and cutout the outline carefully with an X-acto knife only where I want to paint the shadows. Then I spray painted the shadows and removed the film. The paint I used was a quick drying Comarts brand which I diluted with some airbrush medium.
The other methods I use to do shadows are with charcoal powder and chamois cloth or paper stubs. I sharpen a charcoal stick and collect the charcoal powder in a container and store it for future use. I like the charcoal method when I know I donโt need much depth in the shadow. I used this method in my Car Key Fob drawing (check it out)
Another method would be to colour the shadow using either graphite or colour pencils to make shadows. Advantage here would be that you can use different colours depending on the light thats passing through the object. Check out my Perrier bottle drawing for an application of this method.
Well, if you have any questions, please let me know in the comments and I will be happy to answer! ๐
