Sorry for the delay in the official word, and some of you may have heard already, at the altar lake camp out is canceled this year.

Over the last decade, there have been a number of changes in Washington State Parks & Recreation Department policies in regards to usage and administration by groups (such as $2M liability insurance for groups over 30 people, self-policing of parking, and us managing our own reservations, et., etc.)

Because of this, and lack of pre-event support by our membership - we decided after last month's business meeting, to cancel the annual Alta Lake Campout (..for this year at least).

MORE TO COME!!
We have some new ideas for other fun, fellowship events closer to home - but we need people involved because it takes a lot more effort, then just "paying at the door" to put on these events.

For those who don't know the history of PSYPC:
Since 1977, Puget Sound Young People's Council (PSYPC) has been providing fun, clean-and-sober activities for young (and young at heart) people in all 12-step recovery programs and their families.
For 38 of those years, PSYPC held five different annual events to fund the Winter Holidays Conference each February (formerly the largest and oldest AA and Al-Anon conference in the PNW.)

It's my fervent hope, that we can keep our registered 501c3 nonprofit going - but it takes a village! 😋

Our monthly business meeting is always 5 p.m.on the third Sunday of each month, at the Eastside Intergroup office in Bellevue - except THERE WILL BE NO MEETING TONIGHT.

Less than a week away from the Alta Lake Campout, and we still have 12 campsites available (which includes one lakefront site, and one RV/Utility site)!

PLEASE keep in mind, that PSYPC has to pay for all sites not sold - so if everyone could help spread the word, then we might still sell-out!! See y'all there!!!

Photos from Puget Sound Young Peoples Council (PSYPC)'s post 28/05/2019

Someone complained this weekend, that the Alta Lake Campout announcements aren't reaching our members in the South End... All I can say is: Really?

It's been announced on this FB page (which is "liked" by ~645 people), it's been the same weekend for many MANY years, we have a website, and a flyer has been out for 2 months. SOME HELP, MAYBE?!!

We have 2 weeks to go, with 16 (SIXTEEN!!) campsites remaining (includes 1 RV site, and 1 lakefront site) which MUST be sold - or we lose money again!!

If we lose money for another year - I'm sad to say that PSYPC could likely fold. Something to think about. :-(

25/05/2019

Help spread the message!
Carry a few flyers with you when you go out to a new or different meeting, and ANNOUNCE IT!!
Let's help more NEW people hear about it!! :-D

25/05/2019

Less than 3 weeks to Alta Lake - and there are still 17 campsites available (...including 1 RV site, and 1 right on the lake!!)!

PLEASE NOTE: We HAVE to sell out this year - or we can't keep renting the park for you all!! (PSYPC would then have to go back to the old "self-serve" method - with everyone competing with the general public for campsites!) DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN!! :-D

20/05/2019

Discussed at the PSYPC business meeting tonight:

WE NEED A LITTLE HELP at the camp out!!
We need a volunteer for children activities during the day, and coffee makers for each meal - ESPECIALLY for Sunday morning breakfast!!
If interested - please e-mail [email protected]

Photos from Puget Sound Young Peoples Council (PSYPC)'s post 19/05/2019

We're coming into the home stretch for the Alta Lake Campout! There's only 14 sites remaining (and one ADA site reserved for any mobility-challenged member).

We are sorry, but there is no FREE camping this year! :-(
Once all the regular sites have been sold, there WILL BE reduced-price tent camping available in the Wooded Group Site, at $20 per tent for the weekend.
(We don't have the grassy area this year, as Group site #2 would cost PSYPC another $300!)

04/05/2019

I was just informed that a flyer made by someone not actively in PSYPC (or authorized by the Council), was distributed at the ESIG business meeting last week.

This flyer contained photos of members, which is a direct violation of AA's 11th Tradition!!

PLEASE HELP ME FIND & REMOVE THEM!!!

04/05/2019

Sorry for the late release - but here's the OFFICIAL Alta Lake Flyer! PLEASE SHARE!
For 42 years, PSYPC has always been about more than just one event - but right now, We're working hard to help PSYPC recover!

02/05/2019

Alta Lake update:
There are 22 campsites available in loop 3, so be sure to get a campsite while you still can, and help get the word out!! (The park has been much improved since last year - and vegetation is growing back!)
Also, PLEASE consider buying your registrations & scholarships BEFORE coming to the campout if you can - it helps us tremendously in the budgeting & planning!

ALSO - there will be (2) LAKEFRONT Campsites up for auction on 5/25, at the Eastside Alano Club's Jam night to benefit PSYPC!! (See Flyer and stay tuned for more info!!)

18/04/2019

Alta Lake Update:
Well, almost all the sites in loop 2 are gone - except for 1 RV site, and 1 site available for anyone mobility challenged (ADA - wheelchair or walker), with 30 sites remaining in loop 3 (as of this writing).

A reminder that the State Park has made a lot of improvements to the campsites in the park (...they had to spend those Federal disaster dollars somehow!!) by adding more rockeries around the campsites with additional dirt-work and gravel to level them out. The biggest changes appear to be the lakefront sites and loop 3 (I'm anxious to get there and see the changes for myself!).

Remember that were's asking for everyone's help in getting the word out - and all of you inviting as many friends as you can, to come and camp with us! :-D

16/04/2019

ALTA LAKE UPDATE:
As of now, we have 5 RV/Utility sites, 3 standard sites and 1 ADA (Handicapped) site remaining in loop 2 - but we still have 32 sites available in loop 3!

PSYPC doesn't make any money from the campsites, only from registrations. We're trying to recover from last year's losses, so it's all about getting people there! PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!

We NEED more than just a few people on the Council to make these things work - so PLEASE come and help us. Our next business meeting is at 5pm, this Sunday (the 21st) at the ESIG office in Bellevue.
PSYPC is more than just this campout - so I hope to see you there! In Love & Service, mp

13/04/2019

HEY EVERYONE - Registration for PSYPC's 25th Alta Lake campout is opening up at 7 am TOMORROW MORNING!

Go to PSYPC-WA.COM after 7 am, to reserve your favorite campsite! Remember - it's 3 days again this year! (3pm Thurs, June 13 to Noon on Sun, June 15th)

The State Park has invested a lot in recent improvements - so let's have a bigger party this year, and sell out all the campsites!!
(NOTE: some of the campsite numbers have changed - so be sure to go by the new campsite map, and not just the photos!)

07/04/2019

Sorry folks, but Alta Lake Online Registration is delayed a few more days, due to events beyond my control.

I'll announce it HERE, when I'm able to get the site working properly. (I'd hate to go back to the much more expensive option of Paypal for our payment processing - but I will if I have to!)

16/02/2019

SAVE THE DATE!
Registration for the 25th Alta Lake Campout opens Sunday, 3/31 at 7AM - and we have the camp-ground for 3-days this year!!!

We need help putting on this AND other upcoming events - so come see what's happening, and join the fun!!
Our monthly business meeting is THIS Sunday at 5pm, in the Eastside Intergroup office at 13401 Bel-Red Rd., Suite B-6, Bellevue, WA.

Newcomers and new members are always welcome! Come join the fun, and get involved with clean & sober events. Go to psypc-wa.com for more info!

25th annual Alta Lake Campout update!

SAVE THE DATE:
June 13th - 16th (3 days this year!!)

Online registration will open Sunday, March 31st, at 7am. Go to PSYPC-WA.com for more info, and to register! (Individuals are also strongly urged to register in advance - as it greatly helps with estimating how much food will be needed!)

The cost of camping is still only what the park charges (with no additional "reservation fees", like the State charges!), plus $25 for for each person 12 & over. All reservations are for 3 nights (Thu - Sat).

PLEASE NOTE: The park has changed some of the site #'s (by one # in most cases), but I will make every effort to match the site photos and #'s in our store, with the new site map (... which is the final authority!)

A reminder, that the memorial for Ron Housner (aka "Captain Ron") will be held this Saturday, at the Bellevue Christian Reformed Church located at 1221 148th Ave NE.
Fellowship will start at 11, with the ceremony to begin promptly at 12 Noon. Sharing will continue afterward, with cleanup at 2 or 2:30 (volunteers appreciated!).

For anyone not aware, Capt Ron was a longtime active member of PSYPC, and was also the person responsible for starting our beloved Alta Lake Campout 24 years ago.

A Gofundme page was created to offset the cost of his memorial, and to help his family with the unexpected costs incurred during this time of grief.

Click here to support Capt Ron's Memorial fund organized by Friends of Captain Ron Ron Hausner was the best friend I've ever had. But he wasn't just a great friend to me - Ron's life TRULY made a difference in countless other lives, as well. Ron loved people, and he loved whitewater rafting, and he loved taking people rafting! But "Captain Ron" was so much more than just one...

14/09/2018

Ron Hausner (aka: "Capt Ron") was a long time, very active member of PSYPC.

Starting in 1994, when Ron volunteered to pick up Dr. Paul and Maxine from the airport for his first Winter Holidays convention - He's helped out at nearly every Winter Holidays and PSYPC event since then.
Many don't know this fact, but Ron was also the founder of our beloved Alta Lake camp-out 24 years ago!
In addition to his active life in recovery (or because of it), Ron had a very active life as one of the premier Whitewater river-rafting guides in Washington, and has touched countless lives.

The Captain's memorial (a celebration of life) will begin at 11am, Sept. 29th at the Bellevue Christian Reformed Church 1221 148th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98007.

A Continental Style breakfast potluck will start at 11, with the service starting at Noon.
Digital photos are welcome, and will be displayed in an overhead photo montage.

7th Tradition contributions will offset the facility expense.

In the spirit of Love & Service,

It's with a heavy heart, that I announce the passing of one of PSYPC's greatest contributors - "Captain Ron" Hausner.
Ron was the originator of PSYPC's Alta Lake campout, and He actively served the Council whenever/where-ever needed, since Winter Holidays 1994.
