Happy 2024, everyone - thanks for being patient during our short break! For our first episode of the new year, I'm joined by Alaska Venture Fund Partner, Jonella Larson - a brilliant colleague and longtime friend. A lifelong Alaskan, Jonella/Ququngaq (Yupik) was born and raised in Nome and has strong family ties to Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island. She and her children are tribal citizens of the Native Village of Savoonga. In this episode, we cover a range of topics including Native nation building, the problematic nature of blood quantum, self-determination, learning from other Indigenous communities, and how a relationship with lands and waters informs stewardship.
Excited to be back in the studio! Thank you all for the outpouring of support so far. If you haven't already, please subscribe on your preferred podcast platforms and follow on Facebook, Instagram, and X!

We're back! Very excited about this episode. I'm joined by Anchorage-based photojournalist, documentary photographer, and my good friend Ash Adams. We cover quite a bit of ground - discussing topics like cancel culture, restorative justice, accountability and how they all relate to the Indigenous worldview, kindness as an evolutionary trait, and systemic issues that require systemic solutions. Definitely gets the brain gears turning.
I've been having such a good time recording these episodes with so many top-quality conversation partners whom I personally admire. All of our guests are totally unafraid to dig into things and each episode brings something different.

In this episode, Iβm excited to be joined by writer and photographer, Emily Sullivan (she/they)! We started off as mutuals on Twitter and Iβm so glad they were open and enthusiastic to do an episode with us. Currently living on Dena'ina EΕnena, the lands surrounding Anchorage, Emily is a backcountry ski athlete and a community organizer for climate justice, Arctic sustainability, and land issues in Alaska. We discuss a range of topics including outdoor recreation, relationship with self, relationship to land, and using Indigenous values as a way to approach adventure and exploration.
Thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm for this podcast β it has meant a lot to me, and our guests have been incredible. Remember to subscribe on your preferred podcast platforms and follow on Facebook, Instagram, and X! Excited to hear your thoughts!

In our premiere episode, I welcome Student Advocate and my longtime friend, Mary Essaaq Sherbick. She's Yupik and primarily grew up in Anchorage, but her family comes from the Bristol Bay region of Alaska - specifically Twin Hills, Togiak, and Manokotak. Join us as we discuss parenting, building community, relationship to land, self-decolonization, conscious gratitude, identity, and how Indigenous knowledge and values shape our worldview. Mary was an incredible conversation partner and I couldn't think of a better person to kick off this show with. Thank you, Mary!
I'm grateful for the outpouring of support and excitement for our new podcast! I can't wait to bring you all into our conversations. Remember to subscribe on your preferred podcast platforms and follow on Facebook, Instagram, and X! Thanks everyone β let me know your thoughts!
