We heard from the amazing Dr. Joette Dukes in March and we are excited to have her highlight for May!

If you missed her speech, something we gleamed from her words was,
"Sometimes you may have to go twice as far to get to the same place, do it anyway."

"Joette Dukes is Executive Director of P*e Dee Regional Council of Governments (COG). She has 30+ years’ experience, serving in various capacities in her organization. From 2011 until 2023, she served as Workforce Development Director. During her tenure in that role, the P*e Dee Area received more than $52 million in funding for workforce development, provided millions of workforce development services, and served thousands of individuals seeking individualized educational support and career advancement.

In January 2024, the Board of Directors for P*e Dee Regional COG appointed Joette as Executive Director for the agency. In her new position, she will facilitate the strategic vision of the COG and oversee all services provided by the agency.

Joette is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s School of Business and holds a Doctor of Theology Degree from Christian Outreach Bible College. She is a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), and Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

Joette serves on the boards of several non-profit, community, and/or faith-based organizations. She is married to Elder Stevie Dukes, Pastor of Lighthouse Way of the Cross Church and is involved in their ministry in many capacities. She is also actively involved with the church’s international fellowship - the Way of the Cross Church of Christ, International - where she holds leadership roles in the Christian Education Department and Women’s Ministry.

Joette and her husband have three sons (Terrence, Stevie, and Christian) and reside in Florence, South Carolina.
