Thanks for looking! π
A special one π
Interesting to see how the black underglaze has strong blue tones which come through the white underglaze giving this piece an atmospheric moonlit vibe π Normally I work on black clay with white slip and underglaze over the top but I'm liking the difference with the black underglaze base
New owl sculpture from the kiln today!

A small delivery of small work to last week... Icarus sculptures on plinths with gilding
Owl update! This is the bigger of the three owls I'm working on at the moment (see my last post for an earlier stage in the making). These sponged on highlights in slip and underglaze probably won't be where it ends... Once fired I'll have another think about what I do and don't like-there's still time to make changes at that point before the final firing. I also need to turn my mind to the base he'll go on, but more of that later!
A little progress shot of a terracotta owl on the go at the moment. I usually make them in a black stoneware clay but decided to try a groggy red instead. I've coated it with black underglaze but have since worked some surface details which allow the terracotta to show through. I'm currently sponging on white slip and later will go over those areas again with a white underglaze (probably post bisque firing). I'll share pics of how it looks now later today but for now, lunchtime!
Bright and breezy hanging planter, one of two I have available. Great for small and trailing plants π§‘
Spring greens! I love this limey underglaze, especially with the white glossy glaze. Garlic and bluebells are beginning to emerge and open up. It's all just around the corner...
Angel wall art, available in my online shops π
Happy Easter lovely people! I hope you're enjoying the day and bank holiday weekend π I spent a pleasurable morning wandering around flea and vintage flotsam and jetsam showground and only bought ONE thing! Which for me is remarkable... It was useful thing too, even more remarkable π What have you been up to?
Enjoy the rest of the day folks β€οΈ

Three more Talisman hangings, this time consisting of white earthenware clay components which have been glazed with experimental brushes - feathers tied to driftwood which are then dipped in underglaze and played across the surface of the tiles. The final pic shows one of the tiles which looks, to me, like a crow amongst berry-laden branches. What do you think? π

Mermaidy blasts from the past... The weather's warming up so it's time for me to begin thinking about making all things summery. Pondering on the summer, but of course, enjoying the unfolding Spring! The allotment awaits (but is absolutely sodden so no go for the mo), in the meantime I'm revelling in the longer days.... βοΈ
