Every one of us has something heavy weāre carrying as we walk through our day. And remembering that others have burdens of their own will help us choose to be a little kinder to one another.
Today, we can choose to let compassion rise, grace soften and love lead.

Yummy and easy to make, dinner all in just one baking dish! Let me know what you think! šš
šæšš§ This Salmon Fusilli can be a great weeknight dinner idea, served with some salad and Chicken on the side, or can even be a hearty lunch.
One thingās for sure, I was able to clock in some music time earlier than expected because making dinner tonight was a snap! Enjoy!

THE ONE WITH MR.C.
With Mr.C , our National Artist for Music.
Mr. C is the most well-loved musician I know. His brilliance & musical greatness only matches his humility, kindness, and generosity of spirit.
We still go back to the memory of us eating Caramelized Shrimp and Butter-Garlic Crab in Hanoi, a Vietnamese restaurant in Abreeza Mall in Davao during one of our Songwriting With The Maestro talks. Super saya to enjoy yummy food and talk about music with him and Sir and everyone.
He continues to be an inspiring figure to so many of us singer-songwriters and musicians. Grateful for every opportunity to learn from him.
I've received 1,000 reactions to my posts in the past 30 days. Thanks for your support. šš¤š
THE ONE WITH THE ADVICE
I was pregnant with my youngest child when I qualified and participated in the Elements Singing Songwriting Camp in 2013. There were 60 of usā¦ 20 from Luzon, 20 from Visayas, 20 from Mindanao. We all immersed ourselves in 5 days of learning, making music, camaraderie, and new friendships in Bahura, Dumaguete.
I had just enjoyed being a finalist in Philpop 2013 at the time, and the camp was another blessing to keep the momentum of growth going. At the time, I was working on originals, squeezing in special shows, and was already in the thick of raising a family with my husband.
ELEMENTS was so much fun, and my fellow campers and our mentors were all so sweet and everyone was obviously teeming with musical talent.
Nothing like being in the same room with like-minded and passionate musical creatives, singer-songwriters all excited about music.
It was simply unforgettable.
One of the mentors of my Batch (Our batch was Batch 4) was Mr. Audie Gemora.
I felt much joy seeing him there because I remember being blown away by his performance as Joseph in āJoseph The Dreamerā in 1989, which stayed with me a long time.
Even as a wife and a mom, I have never stopped growing in my craft, and Sir Audie said something that made an indelible mark on me during the camp: āIf you feel this strongly about performing then you must do it.ā
Yes, Sir!
So you can imagine how nice it was to bump into him at the Pinoy Playlist Music Festival last week.
Now back to regular programming, shoulder to the wheel. š

: Just finished watching the documentary āBECKHAMā with my husband on Netflix.
Have always been a fan of David Beckham and Posh Spice, and to this day, I still re-read their biographies (āBeckham: Both Feet On The Groundā by David Beckham, and āLearning To Flyā by Victoria Beckham). Thoroughly enjoyed this. What a passionate journey of hard work and love.

ONE STEP AT A TIME
We have no control over the way we are perceived. But I greatly appreciate that in the work we have been tasked to do, we can prepare, put in the work, do our best, and even in frailties, remember to see ourselves the way God sees us.
I think about how Godās Word reminds me of this, to focus on how He regards me, especially when self-criticism and worry come:
āNo, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.ā
āāRomansā¬ ā8ā¬:ā37ā¬ āNIVā¬ā¬
āā¦being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.ā
āāPhilippiansā¬ ā1ā¬:ā6ā¬ āNIVā¬ā¬
āDo not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godās will isāhis good, pleasing and perfect will.ā
āāRomansā¬ ā12ā¬:ā2ā¬ āNIVā¬ā¬
Preparing for something special. One step at a time.
Grateful. Lord God, thank you. What a joy to sing and make music, knowing that You are the one who goes before us, that it is You who is behind us and who is beside us, and that we are nothing without YOU.
Have been immersed in the English translation of āSweet Bean Pasteā by Durian Sukegawa. Enjoying this one a lot.
Whenever possible, I enjoy a variety of new reads. This one is a light and easy one about the power of an unlikely friendship set in contemporary Japan.
It has its ātoothachingly-sweetā moments, but it is refreshing to behold the tenderness of a friendship between an ex-con and an elderly lady carrying a grim, burdensome past.
Itās an interesting attack on the āodd coupleā genre, has its humorous moments, but ultimately leaves a lingering, poignant, and powerful message about redemption.
Something I needed during this quick downtime, some page-turning prose that stimulates the mindā¦ and also makes me crave for dorayaki.
THE ONE āFROM DREAMS TO SHEETā
What a gift to learn from these award-winning songwriters and composers and artists on Day 1 of Pinoy Playlist Music Festival.
Right before my set, music experts Moy Ortiz , Ms. Trina Belamide and Jonathan Manalo kicked off PINOY PLAYLIST CONVERSATIONS. The very first topic of these festival talks was FILIPINO SONGWRITING: FROM DREAMS TO SHEET.
What a treat it was to listen and glean wisdom from them, and get to ask questions and learn from the discussion on writing songs, the value of music and lyrics, and so much more.
Apart from being an artist invited to sing my original compositions, what brought me great joy was being able to fellowship and learn something new from the music talks, and also enjoy watching other fellow musicians perform that weekend.
Mabuhay ang musiko, at musikang Filipino!
BEHIND THE SCENES
Growing up, I remember how my Dad would always say that he liked my hair pulled back and fixed , away from my face.
His Nanay (my Lola Juling) would also fix her hair that way. A lot of relatives in our family say a lot of my features come from my Lola. Coming from such a big family on my Dadās side, they say Iām the one who looks the most like my Lola Juling.
And I saw photos of my Mama as a young girl with her hair fixed in the same way. To this day she says to me that she also likes to keep things simple. No-frills. And that made a huge impression on me.
Fast forward to the present. My Dad tells my daughter (his eldest grandchild) that she looks pretty especially when her hair is neatly tied away from her face. This makes me smile.
There are days when itās nice to just let my hair down, but this wasnāt one of them. And this kind of hairstyle is usually best so that my in-ear monitors donāt get tangled up in my hair, hehe.
Felt the love from my trusted makeup artist Chuch and my hairstylist Ate Kim .hair who glammed me up for the gig the other day.
A little behind the scenes moment.
Thank you for having me in this yearās Pinoy Playlist Music Festival. To be in a line-up of awesome artists curated by respected names and figures in the music industry is truly an honor and a joy.
Grateful to Mr. Ryan Cayabyab (Mr.C!) ,Mr.Moy Ortiz , Ms.Maribel Garcia of , and Mr. Noel Ferrer for your gracious invitation, for your trust and support.
Congratulations to everyone who have also worked so hard behind the scenes, every production team member and organizer involved in this amazing event.
Thank you to the wonderful musicians I worked with who played for my set , had so much fun, and thank you Atoy for your assistance and help.
Thank you to and .hair for glamming me up, to for this photograph.
Sharing plenty more that was captured during the event in the coming days.
Thank you to my family and friends who took time to be present and who sent their warmest messages and prayers for a blessed performance.
Most of all, Thank YOU Father God for opening doors no man can shut, for favor and blessing, protection, and covering. Excited for more.
Mabuhay ang Musika at Musikong Pilipino! š¶šµš¤ššµš

THE ONE WHERE MY WINK BANDMATES MET UP
Woke up to a beautiful photo followed by a lovely phone call with video!!! This call was from my bandmate JC Magsalin, he and his dear wife my kumare Jill and my inaanak Gooey were with our other bandmates Adam and his dear wife my kumare Cam and their kids (who live a few hours from them in Canada).
They had just had dinner with our other bandmate, my dear kumpare Junjun Regalado who is in town (he will be busy playing drums for a show there tomorrow)!!! My kumare Tessa and Junjunās kids and me and my husband Rodrin and my kids nalang ang kulang, WINK* Reunion na!!!
Nakakamiss ang WINK Band!!! Gosh!!! Seeing them all together got me emotional! Miss my bandmates!!!! (Note: Follow our page also, we all still post updates. And our music from 2006 is still available for streaming:
https://spotify.link/kbZTFuLSwDb
Weāve all come so far since then, but grateful for camaraderie and support for each other that never changes.)
Before they all parted ways after their dinner (Itās 9pm in Canada right now), we were able to catch up a little. I saw how big my inaanaks have grown! I heard my bandmatesā supportive words and familiar laughter and voices.
Kinamusta nila yung set ko at Pinoy Playlist. We exchanged updates. Grateful that even across the miles, I feel the brotherhood and sense of family from them.
Their kids are my godchildren, and they are all Ninongs to my eldest child. They are all excellent musicians, but beyond all of that, they are wonderful lifetime friends and brothers to me.
I got sentimental and I told them namiss ko silang Lahat.
Naglagay raw sila ng space sa pictures for me! š¤£š„ŗš« Nothing like band mates who are family to us.
Couldnāt let them go without speaking a prayer of blessing and protection over them.
Thank You Lord for blessing each member of WINK* and our families. I look forward to a reunion one day!š¶š¤šµ

Before PINOY PLAYLIST MUSIC FESTIVAL yesterday šµšš¤šµš¶š
This was more of a ājamā of what I consider to be one of the most poignant OPM ballads from the 90ās, by a Filipino band Iāve always loved, .
Hereās a snippet of āMuntik Nang Maabot Ang Langit,ā the only OPM song I sang last night that I didnāt write (Performed my original songs live yesterday, and it was a feeling like no other).
Nag-enjoy sa āfree time Ng banda,ā hala. š¤£
Not a perfect rendition from me but since I love this song so much, I decided to give it a go. Thereās something about a Filipino love song, a Pinoy ballad that tugs at the heartstrings, donāt you think?
Thereās a first time for everythingā¦ and it was my first time to sing my song āRollercoasterā live last night!
What a joy that it was at Pinoy Playlist Music Festival 2023, the biggest and most inclusive OPM celebration of the year!
Sharing more gig clips and photos and even behind the scenes shots in the coming days.
Thank you to the wonderful musicians who were with me last night, new friends who are kind just as they are generous and talented:
- guitar
-keys
-bass
-drums
Thank you dear Krina Cayabyab for the beautiful backup vocal arrangement and backup vocals, and my dear bandmate JC for the arrangement of āRollercoasterā!
God is gracious. You can keep streaming āRollercoasterā by ADJENG on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
